I want to thank you for having a show on strep a. In 2001 I nearly died from this vicious bacteria. I too thought I had the flu.I started running a fever and purple blisters formed on my stomach in a matter of hours. I went to shower thinking I would feel better afterwards, during the shower these blisters began to burst and blood poured from them. I called my brother he took me to the ER. Living in a small town I was life flighted to Wake Forest Baptist Hospital. By the time I arrived there my fever had reached 106 degrees and I was drifting into a coma. This all happened within a matter of 10 hours, from being fine to fighting to live. Ten days and 3 surgeries later I was alive. I don't know how I got this but I do know that time is not on your side when you get it. The Doctor told my family that had I waited to go to the hospital the next day I would have not survived. Thanks for spreading the word because this is an airborne bacteria anyone is at risk healthily or not.
