Hi Anderson,
I really hope this message reaches you personally. I've been a huge fan of yours for years, and I've always admired your journalistic integrity, your interview style, and your kindness, which is why I am really troubled and disappointed by your show today that featured Mary Hamer for a second time. As a mental health professional (psychiatrist), it is quite obvious that this woman has a clear psychiatric disorder known as delusional disorder. While people who suffer from this disorder can appear to function normally in many areas of their lives, they are completely incapable of insight when it comes to their specific delusional belief system. No amount of confrontation or reasoning can possibly shift their disordered thinking. As such, for you to continue to try to reason with her, while the audience watched while shaking their heads in shocked disapproval was truly cruel. Whether you realize this or not (and I'm really hoping you did not) this mentally disturbed woman was made the object of disdainful ridicule for the amusement of your national audience. Telling her you were not judging her, but were only trying to understand was less than honest. Once was hard enough to watch, but at least the first time it was in the context of a broader subject. Bringing her back for round two was outrageous. It was so out of character for who I always believed you to be, and what I thought your show was about. I truly hope this type of content was an aberration and not a trend.
