I believe parents should control what their child eats. If this child has health issues, then no the parent should not dance around it. If she's at a public function and the child wants to eat something not good for her, then the parent should speak up. Too many parents are so concerned with what others will think of their parenting skills that they keep quiet about too many things. Speak up and save your child. I don't think the way she handled it was embarrassing. Did the child complain or feel embarrassed? Or was it the parents who were embarrassed? Hmmmm.
