I am thrilled Anderon on this issue.....last week in the California Senate Public Safety Committee Women History was made! The Sin By Silence Bills AB593 and AB1593 and AB1200 all passed. These bills are to release Battered Mother Surivors in prion. The Sin By Silence.com Documentary produced from behind prison walls by abused and battered mothers who have served 2 and 3 decades for killing their abuser (sometimes law enforcement who knew how to commit the perfect murder). Instead of receiving an acquittal or short manslaughter so Mothers can return home to their children....Judges, Prosecutors, and Jurors sentence them for decades. The Battered Woman's Defense is not working in America. In CA we have 350....So, there are thousands across America. Witnesses silenced and evidence squashed is common. Abortion Laws do not give the unborn fetus the right to life, therefor the Mother cannot claim the defense and it is kept hidden from the jury. Therefore, Mothers are getting 25 years to life. We need to look at more closely....what does happen to the children? Usually foster care and adoption and more abuse. How does sending our Mothers to 20 years to life helping anybody. yes i am standing by my sons side, i dont belive what they charged him with. he had good job and kids. within 1 month of sitting jail supposively talking to a minor on internet first she said she was 26 then he was pulled from his car and arrested for traveling to see a minor??????? it was a cop on internet, no victim florida has these stings where they can just pick u up and your life is over lawyer did nothing i paid him $60...00.00 for him to tell my daughter inlaw my son goes to prison for 5 yrs no matter what before he even went to court. he has been beaten in jail by gaurds and inmates innocent til proven guilty not in florida the DA decides what goes on, all they need is to see you where on internet. thats thier only prove an email. i cant belive youve never done anything wrong before but he's going to prison for an emails sent to some one he thought was an adult

First of all, the most important thing is the truth: guilty or innocent. If he's guilty it seems to me he will do it again. So, it's not a person to be around with.
On the other hand,we all know some people are plead guilty in advance and it is quite difficult to change the audience's mind. It's a tough question to answer.
My father was accused of rape and he did not do it. There was no evidence against him other than that she said he did it. He was convicted on that alone even though there is more evidence showing that it isn't possible that he did it.We are fighting for him but the system is corrupt. This happens all of the time and innocent people's lives are taken away and families are destroyed.
If you are going to call this segment 'TRUE CRIME' you should at least put a question mark at the end. As is, it seems prejudicial.
This is on the Nancy Smith case, it didnt surprise me hearing this happened in Ohio. I have a cousin in the womens prison for a crime she didnt commit, which was murder, and there was no evidence she did the crime. One of the men who did the crime told everyone she had nothing to do with it and did not know the men had committed the crime until it was done. She is still in prison and her mother has been fighting to get her out since the crime happened. My aunt is actually going to law school because no one wants to help her.

I have information on 2 cases I worked on and can show how CORRUPT the State Attorney and Public Defenders are, I am a Paralegal, and I wish I could have become a Lawyer because of how the Lawyers don't help all the do is just sell them down the road. I don't even know why the Appeals court can turn you down without a reason, but the Attorneys know this and take thousands of dollars for nothing, how can the Appeals court get away without an answer?

My family is a victim of the federal court system.My husband is serving a twenty year sentence for a conspiracy that he did not committ. The goverment manufactured eighteen pages of testimony,and told their witnesses to memorize it.someone was going to get twenty years in prison.Their witnesses convicted felons on probation with new charges.Never even checked in to jail,forget prison.This started with a corrupt sherrif,a deputy made phone calls on our phone,our bussiness was taken illegally.
Watching the terrible tragedy of injustice handed down to Nancy(& her family) was gut-wrenching! I cannot imagine living my life working & trying to raise my children only to have one child's skewed memory determine my fate..& my kids fate. I cannot believe our system could not match absences to the days this supposedly happened, had no eye witnesses that could put her BUS at the man's house or even connect them knowing on another only to hand down a guilty! God only knows how many innocent people are sitting in jail/prison because of the court of public opinion. Our system needs some growth..I'm not implying a jury of peers isn't just but it certainly could use a make-over!! Thoughts & prayers to both families..truly hope the wrongs are righted!!
Including Michigan. They are in fact building the world's biggest nation of the angriest people. With I being myself of having a friend who was deemed innocent of the same crime by a woman who testified against him as well. Michigan instead said to him "tell her in front me that you committed this crime or you won't be going anywhere. 4 days later after being on parole for over a year and about 5 months with only months left they imprisoned him. They've went as far as not putting in the documents I seen where it state's nothing about it. Not to mention I know something's bad going to happen to him in prison from mail he's sent me concerning his health but he's not either saying or not allowed to say. I honestly Michigan entirely. I really do. Ain't nothing to love about it.
