The best way to save is to control your need to consume endless things. I have a rule that if I buy a shirt, book, etc. one of the ones I already have needs to be donated. This keeps down the clutter, and keeps down the inclination to acquire more and more stuff.

Obviously, food is the exception....

I get the opportunity to watch your show on occasion and have always enjoyed it. Today's money saving show is near & dear to my heart. I have been coordinating Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University for almost 10 years now. He has lots of tips and has made a living sharing the information that brought he & his wife out of a hole! CBS shot a pilot for a show, showing what he does....I think in this climate the show would be well received. Anyway....he'd be a GREAT guest for a money saving, money managing, how to spend wisely on purchases type show!

On December 23 I lost my sister to an overdose. I thought about you and your mother for some odd reason. I guess because of your brother and listening to what your mother said on your show. My mother passed away in 07 and I care for my father with Alzheimer's. I have a very close relationship with my brother, he is 6 years older than me and my sister was 3 years older than him. My brother has 2 children I have 3 we are both divorced. After my sister died, even though we were estranged, my brother and I felt such devastation, we feel so empty like we have lost a part of our childhoods. I just started reading a book by Carol Dweck, Mindset, I am hoping along with Synagogue it will help me heal.
Happy New Year,
To your mother too!

This is my favorite talk show. It is so enjoyable. In Houston, it's on an off network. I'm betting next year it will be picked up by one of the majors.

See what you've started... Planning next week's Thanksgiving meal; spent morning searching best deals on all our favorites to make traditional family feast. We welcomed donations from nearby church last year after my husband lost his job - this year we are blessed my son recently starting full time at work. Looking forward to my favorite holiday; going to make every pack of ramen soup this year so worth it. I'll keep you posted on savings and finds. Thanks for planting this seed. =)

All of these ideas for savings sound great but the healthiness of the products that are being bought is not discussed. Anderson, you should comment on the fact that none of these products are environmentally, or eco-friendly products. The products that people are buying are full of toxins and unhealthy things for their body. None of the products people are saving so much on look to be fruits and vegetables. I save money buying organic by buying raw foods and cooking things from scratch. I avoid processed foods, which I believe is causing obesity in America. No high fructose corn syrup in my diet! The way the raw products for the coupon savers' foods are grown is harmful, with growing methods using GMO's, pesticides, and herbicides containing harmful things like carcinogens. I'm not a scientist and I don't have specific sources to back up what I am saying at the moment but I find it very disturbing that this issue is not addressed and would like for you to look into it.

The personal finance expert you had on your show stated that the best time to buy airline tickets was on Wednesday @ 1 am so I checked prices on Monday night & again @ 1 am on Wednesday morning & there was no difference in the price!!
