Iowa Viewer,

Obviously you don't know my sister or her husband very well. How can Christa watch Anderson Live? I will tell you how. Christa and I spent an average of 26 days and nights staying with our mother during several hospital stays. This meant many nights sleeping in a chair or if we were fortunate, a roll away bed. We would watch programs with our mom and Anderson Live was one of those programs. That's how she had time to watch. Here's what you don't know.
Christa has taken on the role of health advocate for our mother. This includes talking to each doctor, surgeon, or nurse that our mother comes in contact with and the message is the same and very clear, our mother will be treated with respect and dignity at all times. She also makes sure that all six siblings are updated so our parents don't have to make so many calls.
Our family is truly blessed that Christa has taken on this role along with director, wife, and mother while dealing with her own health issues.
Christa winning the co-host spot brought excitement and joy to our family. My mom called me two times at work because she couldn't contain her excitement. It made my heart want to burst with happiness because my mom didn't have to think about her cancer in those moments.
How amazing that HDS families and students shared in that joy and supported Christa in her journey. Isn't that the example we want to show our children? Sometimes education isn't all about academics, but learning what it means to be supportive of one another, finding joy when someone is living their dream, and being kind in word and deed. In light of what happened in CT I think many would agree with me.
One thing about our family, we may not always agree with one another and we are not perfect, but we don't stand idly by letting someone attack them unfairly. Our parents taught us to stand up for one another and have each others backs.
Christa, you were an amazing host, you made us proud, and we love you.

Love ya!

Wow! I love Anderson Cooper and his Live show. On today' s show, Cooper gave his co host a phone combination of tablet/phone! What kind was it? Brand? Was it a Verizon phone ?
I loved every show. My New Years wish is to go to New York and be in your show!

Fan forever,
Tony

I missed this episode the first time around. I never liked the co-host idea to begin with, but I must say I was surprised at how artificial and phoney the viewer co-host was! She was worse than some of the celebs I have seen co-hosting "Anderson Live!".

I saw her video "audition" for the show and I can't imagine viewers voting for her. Something tells me the show chose her, not the viewers.

I love "Lord of the Rings", but I will not be seeing "The Hobbit" because of the 27 animal deaths that occurred during the filming of the movie.

Anderson, I am very proud how you have handled the tragedy in Conn. Your position regarding the murdering BASTARD'S name is an honest, true & sincere reflection of your sensitivity. How can you continue to keep ball in motion? We need your help to fix what is so broken. My appreciation. Wayne Nagel

I had such a joy co hosting with Anderson Cooper on his Live show. I felt so very special and for a brief time I was able to take a break from the day to day hardship my family endures now that my mom is so sick. My mom has Inflammatory Breast Cancer. This cancer isn't detected through a mammogram or a lump you may find during a self check. The symptoms are more topical; redness, swelling, warmness in the breast, inverted nipple, a bump like a bug bite or dimpling of the skin. Most often this cancer is misdiagnosed but time is of essence with Inflammatory Breast Cancer. Don't be embarrassed, see your doctor right away if you are experiencing these symptoms. Most often by the time IBC is diagnosed it is in either 3rd or 4th stage. My mom was having a pain in her hip so she visited her dr. It ended up being IBC that had spread to her lymph nodes and bones. In a matter of weeks my mom went from working full time to being in a wheel chair as the cancer ate her hip/pelvis away. In six months my mom underwent 3 types of aggressive chemotherapy, radiation, bone replacement surgery, mastectomy, blood transfusions, hormone therapy....only to be told those measures were not beating the cancer. I watched my dad fall to his knees and hold my mom begging her not to leave him as they both took on this cancer. They have been together since they were 15 years old.

I feel helpless at times but spreading the awareness of Inflammatory Breast Cancer empowers me. Thank you for the opportunity to co host with Anderson. It gave my family a thrill, a joy, a temporary break from the pain cancer inflicts upon the entire family. My dad is scared, my mom is fighting with all her heart and my siblings and I are begging this terrible cancer to spare our mom....we need her!

I have struggled to balance my kids, my marriage, my work, my mom and my own health over the past 8 months. I work very hard at everything I do. I have chosen to be my mom's health advocate until the very end without hesitation. I have put in place strong staff at my school even being over staffed at most times, and continue to work endless hours to maintain the high standards of my school. I am involved in every aspect of my business. It hurts me to read such a negative statement regarding me; especially from a family I currently serve.

As a teacher and school administrator I am sadly involved in child custody and child abuse cases. I fight for the child. I do what is right for the child and will NEVER compromise the well being of any child my school serves. This may anger some parents and fuel their desire to hurt me or my reputation. I just want you to know, no slander could ever hold me back from representing an innocent child. I will always fight for a child no matter what the cost. After 20 years in the field I am not easily distracted from my goal; serving a child whole heartedly.

I am even more dedicated to my school and the children we serve since the recent tragedy in Connecticut. I have worked all weekend and today under FEMA guidelines to strengthen our already existing emergency plan. As a mother myself, I cannot imagine the pain and agony each family involved in the Connecticut elementary school shooting feels. I don't know how I could possibly take my next breath should I lose my child, especially from a pure evil act. Unfortunately, regardless of how exciting and rewarding it was to co host with Anderson, the experience now pales and actually feels irrelevant in the big picture of recent events. My heart aches for every parent, family, teacher and community member mourning this tragedy.

So, for you my HDS Parent, Iowa Viewer who was disgusted I was chosen as co host...please take a moment to realize your child is in the care of a school, a teacher, a director, an owner who would lay down their life for an innocent child. Shame on you for being so nasty and spiteful. You could have easily came to me personally with your concerns. Your comments about me were not only hurtful but untrue.

Your untrue comments about our annual Christmas Musical infuriates me. Probably because I personally pay for EVERY special event our school hosts. I am just a small business owner but I pay to rent venues for musicals and celebrations so our children have the opportunity to shine on stage. I just personally paid for a $25,000.00 playground renovation in my effort to fight childhood obesity. Not to mention I decline all state food programs because I will ONLY serve fresh, unprocessed and high quality foods at my school. I get no grants, I get no aid...I personally pay for everything to make my school extraordinary. And we are just that. I always said...."I don't want to be the biggest and I don't plan to get rich, I just want to be the best Early Childhood Preschool and Kindergarten provider possible".

I love what I do. I love my life, family and the gifts I have been given. Thank you to all those who voted for me and who support me. Thank you Anderson Cooper for putting your faith in me to be your co-host for a day. A day I will treasure forever. THANK YOU!

Iowa Family,
While I am not a member of this HDS family, I do find it pretty bold to make such a harsh and obviously angry comment toward the director of your child(s) school. If you have such strong feelings, maybe you should have expressed this directly toward Ms. Fielder rather than on a public site. Or, state your name. If you want to bring her down publicly- don't hide behind your "Iowa Family" name. I thought Ms. Fielder did an excellent job, and included her school/students she clearly loves. After looking into the school, I see that it is a private school-making it your choice to send your children there. How lucky for you to have this opportunity to choose your children's education. YOU HAVE THE CHOICE, if you feel so negativly upon what appears to be a wonderful human being with a heart of gold, oh and who also is continuing to chase her dreams oh and honor her mother-wow the list goes on- (just assuming by comments made below-aside from yours of course) then maybe it's time to send your children elsewhere and make room for families who would like to be a part of this wonderful school in Iowa.

Christa is an amazing director and did an amazing job on the show! The negative comments left below are too bad. My parents always taught me if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all. If they are unhappy with the school - why are they there? My kiddos thought it was fun getting to send Christa the video and were talking about it while at the same time my oldest was studying his spelling words! Their learning was never compromised and they were left in great hands - Christa's staff is also amazing!! I'm happy the program is in January (not because the show) because of how hectic December always is.

I'm appauld and deeply saddened that the "Iowa Viewer" chose to give such an inaccurate and hurtful statement regarding Christa. ALL 3 of my children have graduated or currently attend Hiawatha Day School since the day the doors opened. I can tell you with 100% certainty that Blayne and Christa devote 24 hours a day to the care and quality of education that we pay for. Just because you don't see them does NOT mean they are not doing anything. Christa has had to juggle her Mother's illness- traveling 5 hours to be with her during treatment and helping out, HER 2 children plus run a HIGHLY SUCCESSFULL AND WELL RESPECTED business. Hiawatha Day School provides Home cooked meals, security entrance, salaried, degreed teachers second to none and PRICELESS extra activities that most of the time they pay for out of pocket and countless other things... Not to mention the countless times I've seen them there after hours or on the weekends. And in regards to the Christmas Program being postponed, that's a bunch of crap- the past 2 years the Christmas program has been held in January due to the busy holiday season for all the HDS families. NOTHING interupted any of those kids education. I hope in the wake of what has happened today in CT, you realize life is too short to be so rude and disrepectful. And you should hug your kids tonight and be grateful they attend such a loving and wonderful school.

First, Anderson could not have picked a better co-host than Christa - she is absolutely amazing! Christa is selfless with a heart of gold. She truly cares about each and every child, their families, as well as enriching and developing her staff. She devotes 24 hours a day to Hiawatha Day School, which is why it's reputation is nothing short of gold (as is Christa's personal reputation). I feel so blessed to have my children at Hiawatha Day School and under the care and education of Christa and her staff.
Second, I am so saddened that someone would take the time to enter a hurtful rant on this board. We should be celebrating the amazing opportunity of our children's lead educator instead of trying to tear her down.
Christa, if you read this, I hope you focus on the MANY people that are in your corner instead of the one hurtful comment.
Merry Christmas, Anderson!

I also couldn't agree more than to disagree w/ the IowaViewer who was disgusted by Christa appearing on the Anderson Show. We are very proud to be sending our child to HDS and both love the environment that Christa & her husband provide for not only the children/families, but the staff. The education that is being provided is above standard and is very apparent by seeing other kids the same age that seem to be not learning at the same level in the public schools. I think it's a good example for our students to see Christa trying to help others. I'm very proud of her and glad to see her have this opportunity!

To Iowa Viewer- I can't not believe the comment you posted. Christa had time to watch Anderson because her poor mother is dealing with stage 4 breast cancer and she watched the show while caring for her mother in the hospital. Christa and her husband OWN the childcare center, so your children didn't miss out on their valuable education, it's the teachers job to educate the children and they do a tremendous job there! Christa & her husband go above and beyond daily for the families at their childcare center and I can't think of anyone more derserving than Christa! I'm sure if you had this wonderful opportunity you would have done the same!!

Anderson,

As a parent of childrent that go to Christa Fielder's childcare center, I was a little surprised to see the 'Vote for Christa!' paraphernalia inundating the building the past few weeks. When I watched Christa's video on the laptop set up for voting, where I usually check my child in, I was not only surprised but also lost respect for Christa. If Chirsta is a classroom teacher, and those are her students, how has she found time to watch your daytime talk show and enter the contest? Those are children of parents who pay almost $900.00 a month for their child to receive an education. The time spent training the children to do that cheer and the time spent recording it was valuable educational time lost. Furthermore I was even more disappointed to hear that the winter musical date had been changed and was not yet set because "Christa is busy was Anderson Cooper stuff". I'm sure that you and your staff feel that you've made the best choice for a guest co-host but back in Iowa there are some of us that have other thoughts.
