I have read Tiffanie's memoir and it's an amazing story. The courage to go after a life that she wants to have with the strength and determination it took to get there. In it she does not say "everyone should go out and have this surgery" but simply takes you through her struggle and the reasons behind her decisions. It's a story in which most can take a piece from and go out and grab life by the proverbial "horns" and make it what you want it to be without any excuses.

Has anyone read this book DWARF that was featured on the show??? I bought a copy and this really is an amazing story. What I love most is she doesn't ever feel bad for herself and nothing against Reza or what he's been through, but I think life is what you make it. I do not have dwarfism and Tiffanie does take readers into her world to show and explain why she chose to undergo the surgery. Her writing really is hard core so I'm not sure if many will be able to make it through the work without cringing. I can't say I would have had the guts to do it and to be frank I would be to scared. But, this book made me, an average size person, really appreciate what I have.
I'll never look at a dwarf the same way again.
I think its great for the holidays, because it puts our life in perspective and makes you notice the little things some never think twice about. Especially in the wake of the CT shooting. Life is to short to argue whats best for someone other than ourselves. Its uplifting and we all need that right now. Tiffanie seems happy and I am happy for her. Who should judge her and say she went to far? How far would you go to be happy?

I found this show to be very disturbing. What I saw of the procedure that the male went through was absolute ABUSE. NO child should be subject to that EVER ! I found the female to have an I'm better than everyone attitude and no compassion and it was quite irritating. She answered a question that was directed at the male and basically took over the show trying to promote her book and how wonderful she is. I would say she could use a good dose of looking inward instead of trying to push her my way is the best way attitude off on someone who is clearly in pain. She doesn't seem to have any empathy and can't conceive of how anyone outside of herself might feel.

Tiffany,
I compliment you for knowing what you want and having the courage and fortitude to make such a big change in your life. I can't help but wonder if Reza just had bad surgeons.
Ignor your critics! It's your life and you seem very happy
God bless,
Sandy

I can understand Ezra being against this type of surgery because of what happened to him, but he and the rest of the little people community should not criticize Tiffanie for her choices. It is an individual decision and it was right for her.

Corrective surgery is very different than vanity based plastic surgery.

These topics go along with any "disability" and it is up to the PERSON to decide what they feel is their best choice. Both of my parents are deaf, I am hearing. Cochlear implants are a very touchy subject because the deaf community feels the same way as dwarfs may about lengthening... you become your own culture, you become your own race, and inside that world, it is an insult to change that certain quality that put you inside the culture in the first place. As a hearing person, seeing both worlds, I think it is entirely up to the person. There is NOTHING wrong with being deaf, there is NOTHING wrong with being a dwarf, but if you can not feel comfortable in your own skin who are we to judge what they do with their life? If someone grew up in an overweight family, and they decide to get in shape and become "skinny", should we judge them and say they are turning on their family?? NO. People spend to much time on categorizing people instead of looking at them as an individual person. She is a person. Not just a dwarf who got lengthening.

Let me be very clear here - she is not a dwarf, but rather Tiffanie, a human being. No one would say "you know Tom that average height person" or "Rebecca the diabetic". It sounds silly.
Overall, there is no debate on whether I or anyone else agrees with lengthening. The decision is based on personal choice. Hopefully people understand the risk vs reward before doing any type of procedure.

In reference to DRAWF ... It is an individual's choice. It is no different than those who want plastic surgery to LOOK a certain way whether it be breasts, ears, eyes, liposuction, gastric bypass, veneer implants. She will always be a drawf but she has the choice to do WHATEVER she wants to do to her own body. IT'S A WOMAN'S CHOICE; isn't it? Just like abortion? If you don't agree with the surgery or don't want it, THAT IS YOUR CHOICE. She should not be looked down upon because SHE made a decision that was right for her. We live in a society that has the methods and technology that allows anyone to be whatever and whomever they want. No ONE group gets to have it ONE way. That is YOUR diversity.
