Shanyna Isom appeared on today's "Anderson Live" to discuss the baffling condition which causes her to grow fingernails instead of hair. Isom, 28, has consulted numerous doctors, but her disease, which now affects her vision and bones, has yet to be diagnosed.

In addition to not knowing what is wrong with her, Shanyna now has $500K in unpaid medical bills. If you would like to help Shanyna, visit her website, Sai-Foundation.com.

So glad Anderson Cooper could help with the medical bills for the lady with " fingernails" growing everywhere. Why is she even being charged for doctor's services and medications ? if this has never been seen before , she is basically a ginuea pig for the cure.

For the poor lady with the "fingernails" growing like hair. Have her doctor's ever considered that this might be Morgellons Disease? It is not well known. Her doctors can check out http://www.thecehf.org/ for info.

the segment with Shanyna Isom was very interesting and informative. Definitely these kind of interviews showcase your abilities so much. Did you question Sanjay Gupta on this?
Hope to see more human interest type segments.

Shanyna Isom should look outside the United Sates for answers. Different researcher in different countries can experiment with a cure more then here in the states. They have different regulations then we do here in the states. Check all your options something good will happen.

Watching and thinking your response is not big enough nor sincere enough for what you received. Your condition is serious and the bills huge, you should be jumping for joy!

I think it was just beautiful what the Anderson Cooper show done for her. It seems that they could have done more though. I desperately hope that something more was done behind the scenes. I think the family should contact more shows to if not for anything else, bring more awareness to her condition and their financial plight. I will continue to keep both of them in my prayers.

shanya ison. I would at least try laser hair removal on a small area. If the follicle is destroyed, maybe the "nails" can't grow??

Wonderful to help this family out and I hope that just being on your show opens this brave young woman to more help! While listening to the struggle with finances I was remembering two stories. I realize this debt is so deep now that this would not have worked for them BUT perhaps others will read it and think:
Many years ago when my husband was in college our babysitter (her husband also a student) had three children and no med. insurance and a sick child. They had no money for doc appts but asked if she could work off her bill. On Sat. (because she babysat for other students' children on weekdays) she would go to the office and answer the phone, greet patients, file...whatever they needed, until her med bill was paid off! ALSO, another friend of mine was a single parent about 20 yrs ago and had some serious med issues....the neurologist thought it may have been a brain tumor. An MRI was ordered along with other med. tests and the costs began to grow. When it was all over, it was NOT a tumor but the bills were high. My friend had little but in her rental apt. she had a washer and dryer. She told all her friends in college that she would do their laundry for 1.00 a load if they provided detergent. With the money she made, she made medical payments: one to the lab, one to the neurologist and one to the hospital each month...took a long time but she paid it off!! BEFORE it gets out of hand, TALK to someone at the hospital, the doc office....everyone who will listen and let them know you are willing to wash floors at the hospital, serve food in the hospital kitchen...whatever your skills might be! How wonderful you helped this family and I am holding them in the Light.

I have seen something that looks similar to this. It looked exactly the same. I was just wondering if she has been tested for hpv?
