Backstage: More on John Giuca's Case
In 2003, Mark Fisher was brutally murdered after a night of partying. One of the last people to see him alive was John Giuca, a boy from Brooklyn who Mark had partied with that night. Two years later, John was convicted of murder and is currently serving 25 to life.
John's mother, Doreen Giuliano, is convinced her son is innocent, and decided to take things into her own hands. She launched her own investigation into a juror who she believed was corrupt. She gave herself a new name, lost weight, and wore provocative clothing in order to lure this juror into telling her the truth about what happened in the courtroom. She recorded their conversations, and believes these recordings show evidence of juror misconduct. In 2010, she demanded an appeal and was denied. John has now spent eight years of his life in prison, and Doreen is still fighting for her son.
On Tuesday, you met Doreen who shared her struggles and told us why she's convinced that the Brooklyn DA convicted the wrong man.
Backstage, meet Marley Davis, a woman who is working with Doreen and John on a book about why, she says, he was wrongfully convicted.
Take a look at how Marley got involved in this case and hear her side of the story...
