At the secondary school we had a math teacher who tiranised the pupils. When failing to answer correctly, he twisted someone's hair around his finger until it hurt. Let's say it's not the ideal situation to follow and be interested in a course if you fear the teacher could have your hair pulled out. The guy, mister Debondt, was a heavy smoker, and did not have the best of conditions. Three years later, on the annual scolar sportevent, on a dry hot sunny day, he decided to try a run with his own class, slowly but surely. A grand effort for a guy like him. I saw him coming from a mile away, the terror of my mathclasses. I just had a cup of water and was standing in the crowd and mister terror was going to pass in front of me. I couldn't resist the moment, and I sprayed my whole cup of water right in the face. He didn't realise the assault that just happened to him, but he stopped running, started asking who sprayed him, and as my fellow students were as surprised as he was, I came forward and confessed. As punishment I did have to run the entire race at his side, we had a few word, I explained my motive, and that's the day my terrorteacher became just a man with a wet face and a bad condition.

How is that called teaching. IF it was my child I would be at that school and make sure that a desk was between me and that teacher as I confronted him or I would most certainly be tempted to do worse.
I am not against warranted punishment but negative reinforcement does not work in encouraging lea
