10 Ways to Get Cheap Sports Tix to Local Events
The summer Olympics have brought out the sports fan in all of us. But the high cost of tickets to sporting events can take a huge bite out of your wallet -- dampening the enthusiasm of even die-hard sports fanatics.
Organizers of the 2012 Olympics in London learned this the hard way, as some seats at the Olympics are going empty because ticket prices are too expensive.
If you're like most Americans, you probably can't afford to hop on a plane to London and then fork over hundreds of dollars to snag a seat in Olympic Stadium.
What you can do, however, is score tickets to live, local sports in your own town or city. In fact, you can get sports tickets on the cheap -- or sometimes even free -- if you know where to look.
Here are 10 ways find affordable tickets for sporting events practically in your backyard -- all without blowing your budget.

NEVER give a friend Detroit Tiger gift certificates. They make them VERY difficult to use
Don't forget about Crowd Seats - the first and only flash deals site for sports tickets. Crowd Seats offers incredible discounts on the best sporting events in town for 50-90% off with NO added "convenience" fees!
what a waste of an article. goldstar.com had one event and it wasn't even a sporting event. you get nothing for free. next time, write an article that is really of us to us.
No mention of Stubhub.com???? Probably the biggest and best at whet they do. Shame on you!
TicketHangout.com is also a great way to get tickets. I just bought 4 tickets to see a pregame Steelers vs Eagles for August 9th at meerly $33.00/seat. It's a lot better than paying full price, don't ya think?
Actually, bidding is a great way...I mean, the tickets are still expensive, but they're a lot cheaper than going through Ticketmaster or something. For my 16th birthday my parents brought me to a Bruins game (my first NHL game, and my favorite team--during the play offs against Tampa Bay) that fell exactly on my birthday. They were able to get the tickets in a good amount of time and paid less for them than they would have. For the three of us, I think it came out to 300 or 400 dollars. Again, it is expensive, but not the thousand they would've spent otherwise (we were like 10 rows up, right in the corner--better seats than I've ever had during an AHL game). It was great, and the best thing I could've ever asked for. We're not rich by any means, so it was a really special treat.
very missleading article. after paying numerous "fees" the average out of pocket final costs often double or triple the actual face value. broker fees and auction bid fees are just legal loop holes for SCALPING!!! most pro sports especially NFL,NHL,NBA, and NASCAR are only for the rich and well off to enjoy in person
I'm surprised there wasn't:
#11: Watch the neighbors play one-on-one in their driveway
#12: Go to the local park and watch little league baseball
#13: Wait outside an event for someone to leave and then ask for their ticket
