Dos and Don'ts for Throwing a Successful Garage Sale
Lynda Hammond is known as "The Garage Sale Gal," but she's really more like the Queen of the Garage Sale (this past weekend she visited nearly 100!).
For 15 years, Lynda anchored broadcast television before leaving the news business, after she "fell in love with the art of rummaging through other people's stuff." Lynda started a web site for garage sale enthusiasts: GarageSaleGal.com. She also writes a weekly column for The Arizona Republic on garage sales, running every Friday statewide. She also has a new book, "The Garage Sale Gal's Guide to Making Money Off Your Stuff."
Now, it's time to throw your own yard sale!
Lynda says summer is a popular and perfect time to have a yard sale! With kids being off school and everyone hanging around the house... why not de-clutter your home and make money from it?

FINALLY FOUND A WAY TO SAY HI AND HOPE YOUR WELL. I LOVE YOUR SHOW AND I REALLY LIKE YOU... RON
I totally disagree about not pricing the items. It is annoying to keep asking the prices. I'd rather just go to another yard sale unless it is something I have to have.
Are you kidding? I've read her book and the Gal knows what she is talking about. According to her...Why go to the trouble of marking every little thing with a price that someone is not going to pay anyway.
Haggling is part of garage sales. in fact a lot of the people who show up at sales love to haggle. Like the Gal says, most times, when you let someone tell you what they will offer it is more than you would have asked. I have made money from the Garage Sale Gal's tips. You can too...just pick up a book. You'll get you money back in spades!
I won't shop at a tag sale that doesn't have prices on anything. It's so annoying to keep asking, "How much is this?", "How much is this?" I think this is very bad advice!
I do agree about not smoking though. One tag sale had no prices and the woman was sitting in a chair smoking. I don't think she was selling much and I didn't but anything.
