Another Woman Speaks About Marrying Herself

"Anderson" audience member Desiree reveals she decided to marry herself after an engagement to her fiance didn't work out. Desiree says she did not want to feel sad on the day she was supposed to walk down the aisle. "I didn't want to sit at home and wallow in self-pity, or just play everything over in my head… I really wanted to reclaim the day and do something positive."

Like Nadine, Desiree explains she wanted to love herself more, and ultimately realized that only she could make herself happy. Once she found that peace within, she went into her next relationship with a healthier attitude. "Getting married to myself made me approach going into a relationship from a very different place, and that was really the point."
