I was acutely away of how "invisible" I was when I weighed 300 pounds, no one would make eye contact in elevators, if you tried to initiate chit chat while on a bus others would pretend they didn't hear you. After gastric bypass surgery and losing 125 pounds - "society" opened up to me - people looked me in the eye and chit chatted while in line at Starbucks. I am not "mad" about this, just accept it for what it is, however not sure non-over weight people are aware of what they are actually doing (or not doing).
