Daytime Exclusive: Anderson Talks with Teen Imprisoned for Murder
In an "Anderson" daytime exclusive, 19-year-old Toni Fratto, serving a life-sentence for the murder of classmate Micaela Costanzo, speaks to Anderson via satellite from Elko County Jail in Nevada.
Fratto was arrested along with then-boyfriend Kody Cree Patton, 19, and confessed to hitting Micaela in the back with a shovel and then sitting on her legs, before Kody allegedly slit Micaela's throat with a knife. After Toni learned she might get the death sentence for pleading not guilty, Toni changed her plea and agreed to testify against her former boyfriend.When Anderson asks what Kody's possible motive could've been, Fratto replies, "He never told me. He wouldn't give me any details of why." Toni goes on to say when Patton told her he had Micaela in the trunk of his car, and that he allegedly wanted to kill her, Fratto didn't "believe him."
Toni says her relationship with Kody was an abusive one, and explains she was terrified of him. On that tragic night in the desert, Toni tells Anderson that Kody insisted she strike Micaela on the back with a shovel, and recalls, "I didn't know what to do."
What do you make of this story? Is Toni in denial, or was she really caught in an abusive situation with Kody?

I know Toni was the one on the show with her family I give everyone props for going on public television and talking about it. Toni obviously helped in a murder so she needs to pay for the crime she committed and as far as abuse goes I lived in that town and all the pattons are that way they have that small town mentality of being indestructable his brother, parents, and Uncle are all that way. They acted like they ran the town there was a questionable death a few years back and I find it odd that with Kodys dad and Uncle being firefighters everything from the crime scene was burned by them and a poor wife and mother named Annie is dead by supposedly sleep Apnia I dont buy it I never have the Pattons helped a fellow fire figher cover up the death of his wife because she had filed for divorce and I know the pattons apologized just days after this but seriously they know how to play the game they have done it many times before and walk free its about time one of them pay for their crime Kody has always been creepy he came to our house once when I was home alone and I would not open the door he has evil written all over his face.
I find it curious that never one of the fathers were present or even mentioned. Single moms/absent fathers, sounds like another story.
Anderson throughout the program Tony keeps saying she was a victim, didn't want to do the crime, was afraid etc., etc. NOT once has she cried tears, this girl is sorry she got caught. I believe she was the instigator in the death. Her mother has no compassion or anything for that family. What's with this brother??? He hasn't said one word...No no no she should not be paroled!!
Are we supposed to believe that while that poor girl was being murdered she wasn't screaming for mercy?
Ok. I've read many of the comments posted and even did some more research on the Internet. After watching the clip below - ( I'll paste it here..) I now believe that Ms. Toni Fratto is a sociopath.

Toni smiles twice in this interview - I wouldn't be amused by anything said to me, if I was locked in prison accused of murder. This is eerily similar to the Karla Homolka / Paul Bernardo couple in Toronto. Karla has since "walked" - she's a free woman living in Montreal now - but she stood by as her husband Paul raped and killed her own sister. Actually, if I'm not mistaken, Karla had access to a local vet office and provided Paul with the drugs / sedatives that doctors inject into pets - she collected the glass vile, brought it home where either he or Karla administered it into the sister via a needle and......there you go, Homolka was right there watching and participating in the rape and murder her very own sister. She never blinked or bat an eye - she was not capable of emotion. In fact, Karla seemed to devour the attention the press gave her. Toni's eyes are empty - similar to Homolka's eyes. The total void of remorse is so haunting.
For some reason, this would be easier for me if I believed Toni were a sociopath. Then I would know how to categorize her in my mind. What I think we're seeing here with Toni and her mother are two people who are generally good but who are "asleep at the wheel" in terms of life and reality. I actually believe Toni. I think she really believes she's innocent. She may know the reason her boyfriend targeted Michaela, she may not. I wouldn't be surprised if she really didn't know the reason. But that sickens me more than if I thought she were lying. When I look at her and her mother, I don't see the uncaring dissociation typical of sociopaths and psychopaths. I see the dissociation typical of people who aren't awake to their own lives, people who are deeply asleep, deeply out of touch. Somehow, that scares me more than if I thought she were sociopathic.
Toni showed no emotion at all. There was not one sign of being sorry in anything that she said. She tried really, really hard to cry and couldn't even get that to come out even though she was trying really hard to force it. She just sat there and threw every excuse out there to try and justify the whole situation. Her mother isn't helping at all with her denial.
I knew both Cody and Micky. I did not know Tony but with what I saw and have heard about the happenings of that night I see only a stone-cold killer. Cody was destined to be a psycho, and as they say birds of a feather. . .Micky's beauty was internal and external she was the most loving girl I remember. I used to baby-sit her and her older sister that was not on the show. I was also friend's Kristina and have seen (though I am far away) the pain she and her family endures. I wish I could embrace them all but Tony is where she needs to be. I hope that little monster rots and doesn't ever feel freedom. I could get more graphic but what good would that do?
I think Tony was completely behind it, all she did while they were talking to her was whine and never once shed a tear! Even if I were to accidentally kill someone I'd be crying.
I am Kody Patten's lawyer and watched with interest. I have interviewed Toni Fratto twice, the second time she admitted complicity. Our investigation (including obtaining her diaries)establishes that she lied on almost every important detail.
Did anyone else notice how angry Toni was? She would purse her lips together tightly to keep from showing anger. Also she never shed a real tear. I believe when she said she had to hide her emotions she meant her true angery nature. It's clear she has been coached on how to keep a straight face. Which makes it all the more disturbing that she was fighting to conceal her anger.
I am 58 years old and married 4 times. Thank God my husband of close to 20 years is a prince, but I kissed 3 frogs. I've been VERY abused mentally, emotionally and "a little" physicaly If any of my abusers told me to hit that girl with a shovel, I don't care how down trodden I was, I would have turned the shovel on him!! She is either totally involved or she should have cried Insanity! My first husband was murdered by his third wife for doing to her what he did to me. What does that tell you?
This girl is trying to fake until she makes it! She knows why they killed that girl and she is not telling the truth. She deserves to die in jail!
