Lara Spencer's Tips for Discovering Hidden Treasure
Lara Spencer, bargain shopper and author of "I Brake for Yard Sales," joined Anderson on today's show and gave her best tips for finding your own treasures at a thrift store, flea market or yard sale. When browsing around for used items, Spencer explained there are three Rs: rescue ("You're taking an item that someone else has thrown away"), reinvent ("Looking at a piece and not judging it for its current state of affairs, it's looking at its potential"), and recycle ("We're emptying landfills one piece of junk at a time").

MY REGARDS
I am 86 years old. We raised 4 children who have done well, and I have 7 grandchildren who are great. My husband was killed 23 years ago and I have loved staying in "our home". Most everything I have has a history, because of my Dad. I was sitting in my living room the other day, watching my cat and just thinking about the people who have owned all my "stuff". Some of it is estate auctions, yard sales and family items. My Dad told us when we got married 63 years ago to go in the basement and see what we could use from my grandmothers things. She had died years ago. 'Twas fun and I am still using some of them.
Lara, I just had to share my LONG road in life with someone who enjoys the same things I do. Love you on Good Morning America and thanks for all the information today.
Most sincerely, Lois Love
I love picking up 'junk' items and re-purposing them, or bringing them back to their original beauty. I've redone a buffet for my dining room, and I've taken a plain, old, square, handmade wooden trunk and made it a storage/bookshelf/seating area. The possibilities are as limitless as your imagination.
