RE: Tiny Houses: the family is sleeping in attic-holes over the bathroom that don't look fire-safe.
WHY ARE THEY PAYING $12k? A duplicate of this, the trailer house (big or small) are going into the landfill, or given away FREE. Many of these are very mobile, and can follow jobs around the USA. Mine had fantastic storage, 450 sqf, and front & backdoor for fire-safety. I really enjoyed the trailer park, especially the neighborhood watch, neighbors helping the elderly, fringe people becoming rehabilitated (through neighborhood watch).
Many trailer parks are closing (sadly) and the elderly residents (many veterans) cannot afford to move them. The trailerhouses either get bulldozed, given away or sold by the developer. Predatory trailer movers give quotes of $5000 minimum to these elderly, yet after closing, the cost would be $800. My city is allowing the closing of trailer parks to build McMansions, YET most of the elderly or poor will go into taxpayer subsidized housing up-to $5,000/month (elder-care facility). These taxpayer COSTS far outstrip the McMansion yearly property tax revenues.
