Doris, the 23-year-old woman who lives as if she's back in the 1950s needs to get her '50s knowledge sharpened--the snood she wore in her hair was a style from the '40s and a sharp 23-year-old, even in the 1950s, would not go around looking so old-fashioned. Another thing, Anderson asked her if she had twin beds, and if people in the '50s really slept in twin beds. Somehow, she thought she was an expert on the subject and said that people did sleep in twin beds. KIDS slept in twin beds. Adults slept in double beds--together! TV shows couldn't show adults in bed together--that would remind everyone that they must be having sex too. You couldn't say the word 'pregnant' on '50s TV, and if you look closely at the bathrooms in those TV shows there wasn't a toilet either. But in real life, even in the 1950s, people slept together, women actually did get pregnant, and toilets were being flushed every day. One last thing, if Doris wants to imagine that she is living in the '50s, she would never 'live in sin' with her boyfriend. That was a shameful thing to do back then, and since she is supposed to be the big 1950s expert, she should know that, and wouldn't even consider letting her boyfriend live with her in such a low, common way (as her attitude would be if she was genuinely hooked on the '50s.)
Doris looks amazing. I love wearing vintage and wish I could wear 1930's everyday. She is inspiring. I liked the jacket on the modern makeover but thought the over all look was a little safe.
Wow, I really love how she shows her inner self I also love that era but it really must take a lot of effort to live that lifestyle when dressing up everyday is not the norm in todays life, we are lazy dressers, throw on some pants and a sweater no thought required...I really gotta give her a high five
I thought hse looked beautiful both ways!
I would love to know where the sheer shirt and jacket were from.
Doris is GREAT! I've always felt I was born in the wrong era, and since I grew up with a cousin who was 8 years older than me, I got stuck in the 50s music, have always loved sock hops, Elvis and '57 Chevys!
AC -- You took a unique, vibrant woman and turned her into a soccer mom. FAIL.
...isn't this the same girl who's in LOVE with The Ataris (the band). Pretty sure they're not from the 50's. What a phony.
I think Doris is adorable! She feels comfortable and that's what matters!
I've known Doris for years, and she's as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside. No matter how she dresses or does her hair, she will always be the epitome of class and grace.
strangely enough, she looks awesome in the 50s attire, and better than the modern look.. maybe she is a reincarnate LOL! I just wanted to say she is beautiful either way.
Doris, stick to your look. I absolutely love it. I wish, I could pull it off. You're gorgeous. 1950s <3
I thought Doris was very lovely. It was the good from that era without the bad. I must admit I was surprised she is as young as she is, nothig bad there IMO. To be well-adjusted in anytime us a blessing. This is a quote from the song (a few years later "Garden party" I hope you will something you that you enjoy "You see, ya can't please everyone, so ya got to please yourself
