Jesse Tyler Ferguson's Thoughts on Teen Exorcists

Wednesday, February 29, 2012 5:10AM

Jesse Tyler Ferguson lightened the mood on the set after the first part of the show covered the topic of teenage exorcists, but he was tuning into the conversation backstage and could not keep his opinions to himself.

"Just when I thought I saw it all, my friend Anderson has me to a show to follow exorcists," Jesse says, laughing. "Was it as insane in here as it was backstage?"

Jesse jokes that he took Reverend Bob Larson's online courses backstage, and he questions the validity of the teenage girls' claims that they can channel demons.

Hear more of Jesse's reaction to the teenage exorcists in the video below.

To be truthful, I couldn't watch more than 30 seconds or so.
But I do think teens should be involved with exercise! Start taking care of the body sooner than later, don'tcha know. As for this business of attracting demons with Chanel-nah ah. Everyone is aware that in the spirit world, the fave flave for entities is but a little dab of drambuie and bacon grease behind each ear. SO- like total ixnay on the parfum, sillies.

I have always had a great respect for Anderson...he has always come across to me as having sensitivity and integrity. In the case of these "exercists", I've lost that respect. While I agree with the fallability of what these people are dabbling in, they sincerely believe they are doing something good and right. And while work has to be done to bring them to reality, they did not or do not deserve to be mocked. I can see interview being only destructive.

I believe in Jesus Christ and was used as a vessel in the name of Jesus Christ to cast out devils/demons in a friend of mine. It is written in the the Word of God! Have you not read? Mark 9:36-40"And He took a child, and set him in the midst of them; and when He had taken him in His arms, He said unto them," "Whosoever shall receive one of such children in My name, receiveth Me: and whosoever shall receive Me, receiveth not Me, but Him That sent Me." "And John answered Him saying, "Master, we saw one casting out devils in Thy name, and he followeth not us: and we forbad him, because he followeth not us." "But Jesus said, "Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in My name, that can lightly speak evil of Me." "For he that is not against us is on our part." Mark 9:42 "And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in Me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea."
1 Corinthians 1:27-28 "But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty:""And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are." 2 Timothy 1:7 "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear: but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind".

I can't believe that people think that Christians can't have demons. I saw manifestations in a few Christians during my 20 years of church life.
Also, So many Christians don't know the authority they have over satan and demons. Exorcisms can be done in 1-2 hours and not 3 days(like catholic priests do), so I believe that Bob has done this many over the years. Furthermore, why would Anderson trust the opinion of a man who he himself noticeably needs deliverance from demons of homosexuality.

Oh dear what a sham !! these poor girls really beleive they are so special and are learning a GIFT ! Such a pitty you did not have a genuine medium on your show. I wonder how these girls protect themselves from the demons they release them, after all anyone who is in the "white light and gets invoved with the dark MUST protect themselves Mmm. It can be very dangerouse to dabble with enteties when you don't know what you are doing, these girls have no idea what they are starting!! They think they will make a fortune with a show with poor desperate people, yes they will as non of it will be genuine! This is so very wrong, it really gives the genuine ones who work for the good a bad reputation.

I believe that there are people out there that just need to see the love Jesus has for them. Unfortunately you do not receive it in most churches today because you are being blasted with "don't do this, don't do that" "sinners cannot be allowed in heaven" etc. When Jesus was crucified and his hands were nailed to the cross one hand reached into the past while the other hand reached into the future gathering all sickness, sin and diseases into himself. He died for us and also as us. I believe there are a lot of people out there that have never heard the gospel and how much Jesus loves them. Some people are possessed and do need help by means of exorcisms but I think the Rev is very wrong for charging people if he has to travel to do it. If you are truly wanting to help others you don't have any personal gain involved. Why charge people if you are doing it to help others. Get a real job if you need money and cast out demons on the side without charging.

I agree with Anderson. Just looking at the number of exorcisms that this one man claims to have done shows that it is not something that is real. Yes there are true demonic possessions out there but they are VERY rare. I am Catholic and I know my Bible well, but I do not by any means believe that these people are casting out demons from these people. If you look into TRUE exorcisms you will see that the Catholic Church does its research before going so far as to do an exorcism. The people who believe that they are possessed are evaluated buy a professional psychiatrist before anything is done to be sure that it is not some type of mental disorder. I hate to tell you people but the majority of the time it is a mental disorder and NOT a true possession. They are RARE! That means that it does not happen very often, not many exorcisms a week. That is beyond ridiculous. I am by no means denying God or Christ, I believe with all my heart in both and love them both, but that does not mean that I have to believe in every "reverend" that comes on television claiming to do exorcisms. The girls seemed very coached in everything that they said and it would not be ok to have teenage girls doing exorcisms in the first place. The Catholic Priests that do TRUE exorcisms are trained and they do not get to go do these exorcisms on their own at first, especially before their training is finished. I would say that these people have never seen a true demonic possession in their lives and I hope they never do, it is not something to be taken lightly and they should keep this in mind while they are claiming to cast out many demons on a weekly basis.

5 “Everything they do is done for people to see: They make their phylacteries[a] wide and the tassels on their garments long; 6 they love the place of honor at banquets and the most important seats in the synagogues; 7 they love to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces and to be called ‘Rabbi’ by others.

8 “But you are not to be called ‘Rabbi,’ for you have one Teacher, and you are all brothers. 9 And do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for you have one Father, and he is in heaven. 10 Nor are you to be called instructors, for you have one Instructor, the Messiah. 11 The greatest among you will be your servant. 12 For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.

I wonder how long it would take for some who mock the need for exorcism, to call on a Priest or a Christian ministry team for help when their house gets inhabited by a demonic entity or someone they love gets afflicted or harassed?

With all the respect I will like to express to you that a little while ago I was looking at your show and when I saw Jesse Tyler wearing a Clergy-Priest-Collar as to confusse people, I turned off the TV, and also I have another question, is this the same guy you just had in your show with daughters?
sincerely, let's be serious.

This was not a fair show. You should have brought some corduroy plaid clad nerd to your show if you didn't want to hear something as outlandish as the truth of God's word. What is the difference between teen girls that may have a reality show about exorcisms & the reality show known as Jersey Shore? Why is there something wrong with anyone trying to pitch a reality show that has to do with the truths of Scripture - TO HELP PEOPLE UNDERSTAND WHO THEY ARE IN CHRIST, as opposed to one that primarily showcases sex, booze & pointless arguing? And why would you call the girls actors? As intelligent as you or that other guy JTF are - you really are closed minded. Not all Christians are hypocrites. Not all Christians are out to take advantage of people. Not all Christians are intolerant of this world we live in. But it's very clear none of that matters to you because you two and your audience come off as being completely intolerant of Christians all together. For a journalist as respected and accomplished as you - this is beneath you. This is par to Jerry Springer or Maury! But, they may be more accepting of these girls than you...

that's so true, I'm glad people here don't agree with Anderson and his fake friend, they are the one's who are fake. I didn't see any dishonesty in those girls. The man did look a little creepy, that's probably because he has seen so many negative entities or whatever. I do believe they are helping people. Teens are very much disrespected these days, so it's easy for demons to set in their minds and cause them to do negative things. No one wants to listen to them, everybody says do this, do that. They aren't allowed positive expression, unless they are on a team where they can get cheered on. Otherwise, it's like they have to be their own team, and be the cheerleaders of their team to support and cheer themselves to victory. We should give teens and younger people more credit.
