Anderson and Janet Jackson: Being Young at Studio 54 and Michael Jackson
As a kid, Anderson’s mother, Gloria Vanderbilt, took him to the premiere of Sidney Lumet‘s “The Wiz,” and he remembers they rode in a car with Michael Jackson to attend the party at Studio 54.
In this clip from Anderson’s interview with Janet, he jokingly tells her, first, he wasn’t sure why his mom thought it appropriate to take him to Studio 54 at age 10 or 11. Embarrassingly, he says didn’t really know who Michael was until the next day, when he was told that Michael was Janet’s sister, someone he knew well from “Good Times.”
“I distinctly remember,” says Anderson, “watching him [Michael Jackson] dance at Studio 54 and thinking, ‘He’s a really good dancer, he should go into this'... like an idiot.”

Anderson - 100 episodes! Congrats!! Great show today! I love Janet! I grew up watching her on Good Times, Diff'rent Strokes and Fame. Some of my best memories have her music in the background. She has always been beautiful to me, but she looked today as if she was glowing. I have to say, you make me laugh so hard at least once a week. How in the world could you have not known who Michael Jackson was. Are you kidding me? Did you really say that out loud? I love that you can make fun of yourself! I also love how you surprised the Janet dance troupe. The look on their faces was priceless! I know very well how William was feeling. When I came to see you for the first time I had the opportunity to ask you a question. When you approached me with the microphone, I was stunned for a second. I thought to myself ok don't pass out, if I can say Hi, the rest will come out. I was very poised on the outside but on the inside I was screaming and giggling like a nine year old. It was a lot to keep in there. It is a great memory to have. Thank you for that! Keep up the good work and creating memories.
I was and am a bigger Janet fan than i ever was for Michael. She is amazing and beautiful. Her "brand" has turned out to be more stable than any of her siblings. the haters on here sit their fat ass on the couch and judge, look at how old janet is and how fit and beautiful....I will set back on my couch and enjoy the pleasure of seeing her on anderson....

You did not know who Michael Jackson was ??? Aye Aye Aye.. what planet were you from?? Even I knew of him even from another country.. but never met him here other than attending his concerts... His concerts & performance was really something.. "electrifying" like as they say in Saturday night fever ! lol !
