Tips: Dr. Mike Dow's Drug-Free Mood Boosters
Dr. Mike Dow, a psychotherapist and addiction recovery expert, explains on "Anderson," that he helps addicts overcome their addictions by replacing the addiction with other items, or actions that will help achieve the same emotion their addiction brings them.
Dr. Mike understands that it's important to boost a recovering addict's mood without introducing their addiction into the situation, which can be accomplished by raising a person's dopamine and serotonin levels.
For tips on how to raise the dopamine and serotonin level in your life, or in the life of an addict you love, read through for some of Dr. Mike's serotonin and dopamine-boosting activities.

Great drug-free mood booster tips. I do have some impulse control issues that may actually be addictions, but I'm not sure. Is there much of a difference?
Very interesting topic I will buy his book for sure ,the man with the relationship with his car is insane and sick ......he should get a job to keep busy !what a loooser .
Very interesting show. Usually I don't like daytime TV but I try to catch your show as it's very engaging. These people have some serious problems and it takes a lot of courage to come on and face not only an audience, but also their friends and family. Hopefully with the right help, the people on today's show can find some peace in their lives.
Great show today. I too am suffering from anxiety. My phobia is fear of driving. After consulting with my therapist we have determined my fear stems from four arrests and jail time due to drunk driving charges. I am 36 years old and just got my license back last year after 10 years. I never drank at home, only when I left. I am unemployed because I am to affraid to leave my house. Hearing Dr. Dow say today on your show that you need to face the fear using baby steps has given me hope. It's been 2 years since I have worked. I try and practice driving everyday. I've made it 2 miles past my house recently. Sometimes I have setbacks that keep me home for months. Thanks for the hope Dr. Dow.
Anderson,
I am a mother of 2 that has gone through alot in my life. In 2005 I was jogging with my daughter....and I was alittle faster than my daughter and I was in the middle of the crosswalk and I her my daughter screme Ma!! By the time I turned around a car was already hitting me, and instead of taking the fall gently I braised mysel****ainst the car, ended up having bi-lateral hip replacement of which one side got infected and I had blood transfused and got staff infection. I thought I was going to die. Ended up walking with a Cane, Severe Anxiety & Depression, Diabetes,Diabetic Nueropathy, and Fibromyalgia.
I don't know if you have a friend or known a person with multiple injuries but I have and because of them, my childrens life was changed and I fear my lifelong dream of becoming a Christian Singer/Songwriter is gone....do you think your show would ever feature "People who have Mulitiple Injuries and their life forever after?" or am I having a big ole' dose of self pity right now? Your show really helps me be able to maintain the small world that I am in which includes my son and daughters my bro and sis that lives miles away from me and a few fine friends that I have made during my life.
Thank you Anderson, you are affecting peoples life in a positive way and you are contributing to society in a BIG and mighty way. Hope I will be able to do that in my lifetime.....
Why do you think it is only girls/women affected by the medical mystery taking place in Leroy, New York. Is this something to think about?
Dear Mr. Cooper,
I am hooked on your show even topics that seem boring are exciting the way you present them. I am going through a very troubling time in my life right now and it helps me to see your compassion for others.
Your show with your mother when I was three years old my father was a DC policeman and he used to drive for a Mrs. Vanderbilt I do not know which one but as thanks she gave him a lot of girl toys that her daughter did not play with anymore for me and my sisters. My father said we could each pick one toy and the rest we would give to an orphanage for children who had less than we did - I remember there were two dolls that were almost as big as me one was in a pale green dress and one was in a lavender dress I loved them and played with them every day until we moved to Florida when I was ten and my Mom said I was to old for them. I do not know if this was any relation to your mother but it shows how small the world really is.
I lost my son 1 1/2 years ago and am having a hard time coming to terms with it if you could do a show on losing adult children I am sure it would help many.
Thank you for a wonderful show
Jay
