My daughter-in-law, who lives six hours away from me has been accused of using Oxycontin. My 4 year old grandson lives with her, and I am in fear of how he is living. I have no way to prove or disprove the accusations. He is with me now for a couple weeks. She is constantly asking for money, her once clear complexion is now horrible, and my grandson says he wants to live with me and grandpa. Her parents are in denial, but too many of her friends have told me she is abusing these pain pills. I just don't know what to do. I'm frankly shocked that a blog post on a site associated with Anderson Cooper would give advice on how to buy diamonds without once mentioning conflict diamonds and the environmental harms of diamond mining. Also, the idea that diamonds are "the engagement stone" dates back to nothing more than a clever marketing strategy by the De Beers company. That's the real "truth about diamonds."
My advice? Don't buy one at all. Use a family heirloom or a synthetic stone. The ring that signifies the start of a marriage shouldn't also signify the suffering of thousands of people and the destruction of an ecosystem.
