Help Change the World: One Woman at a Time
Women for Women International provides women survivors of war, civil strife and other conflicts with the tools and resources to move from crisis and poverty to stability and self-sufficiency, thereby promoting viable civil societies.
Zainab Salbi, Founder of Women for Women International, started the grassroots humanitarian and development organization 18 years ago after she saw what was happening during the war in Bosnia.
"The patterns of what happens to woman and to human beings in war are the same," says Salbi. "Women are always targeted for violence in terms of rape. Eighty percent of refugees in the world are women and children. 90% of modern work casualties are civilians. Seventy-five percent of which are women and children."

For $30 a month, for one year, you can make a difference in a woman's life forever. Become a sponsor and enable a woman survivor of war to participate in Women for Women International's direct financial assistance, which helps her meet her family's basic needs and to save capital to start an income-generating business.
Your participation will also enable entry to the year-long program of vocational and technical skills training, rights awareness and leadership education. As a sponsor, you can connect with your sister in a very personal way by sending messages and photographs directly to her through our sponsorship online area.

I am now sponsoring my third woman; it's very rewarding! It is such a simple thing for us to do and makes such a huge difference in their lives and their families lives. I hope thousands of new women are sponsored after seeing the show.
Hi Anderson,
I was really happy to view the segment about Women for Women International. I first heard about it on Oprah 2 years ago. I first sponsored a woman in Africa then one from Afghanistan. The sponsorship lasts a year so I recently began my third sponsorship. It is such an awesome thing to do! I know that I am making a huge difference in the lives of these women and in turn the lives of their children, families and communities; the ripple affect in action. I would imagine that thousands more women will be sponsored after your show today - hurray!
Dear Anderson,
I saw your interview with Angelina Jolie and was very captivated. I too have a great interest in what happens in other parts of the world. I love to travel, but the best way to travel is off from the tourist traps. I got my first taste in 2006 when I spent some time in Kigali, Rwanda. While I was working painting a church, a child was brought to me (as I was an EMT at the time). A few month before this young street boy had been hit by a car. The back of his knee never healed and when he was brought to me very infected. I took an interpreter, this little boy and myself by taxi to the hospital, paid for the hospital visit, a meal for Pablo ( since he had not eaten yet that day ) this medication and new clothes and shoes…..all for the cost of $20.00 US. I have been back to Rwanda and other countries and love the people that I meet and revile in the new things that I learn on each trip. My dream would be to be able to travel and give back to people, build homes, schools and just help out where ever it is needed. Both Ms Jolie and you are very blessed to be able to freely travel and bring to light and educated the western world to the plight of others. If you were to ever grant wishes for fans, my wish would be to have dinner with you to talk to you about the many things we have in common.
Thank you

really loved this show.Thank you for bringing this to the publics attention. Love your show, very refreshing television for a change.
Your interview with Angelina Jolie about the movie pertaining to the Bosnian war was so informative and intriguing. It was one of the best and most honest interviews I've seen in a long time. I will definitely see this movie to learn more.
