Do Items Affect Your Mood?
"The items [she owns] are acting as an external means of mood control. So, it's like her anti-depressant," says Dr. Rebecca Beaton, who has worked with Carol and her family in trying to help her. "When she sees the item she feels pleasure from it. It gives her a sense of security… it might even be a part of her identity."
Dr. Beaton says Carol feels a wide range of emotions from different items, from guilt to attachment to happiness. Watch the video below to learn about how and why certain items can manipulate a person's mood.

I feel so for the mother - understand she can't help it! She needs prof. Help n she distances herself by tuning out the ones she loves because of FEAR some of us can't handle the inner REAL pain that you n others can! Instead of poor daughter n "mom you suck" comments use possative such as "mom loves you so much it causes her fear n stuff doesn't leave,or hurt her let's get family help!"- n I'm not a prof. Nor a hoarder but even I see what's going on!
