Eric Stonestreet's Grandma Helen's Secret Recipe
“Modern Family” star Eric Stonestreet’s favorite Thanksgiving recipe is his Grandma Helen’s Holiday Dressing recipe -- or as others call it, “stuffing.”
If you make Grandma Helen’s Holiday Dressing, please tweet us a picture to @Anderson, or post on our Facebook wall. Let @EricStonestreet, @AndersonCooper and the @Anderson Team know how much your family loved Grandma Helen’s secret recipe!
Grandma Helen's Holiday Dressing
3 medium onions, chopped
3 cups celery, chopped
1 1/2 cups melted butter
14 cups fresh loaf bread cubed and dried (do this 2 days before you're making it)
2 eggs beaten
3/4 cup hot chicken broth (low sodium)
2T poultry seasoning sage to taste, not too much
1 1/4t. salt
1/4 t. pepper
1 lb. pork sausage cooked and drained well
Directions:
Cook the celery and the onion in the butter until tender.
Add the bread cubes.
Add the remaining ingredients and 2 beaten eggs.
Use chicken broth to keep the mixture wet.
The dressing should be moist, but not too runny.
Bake in rectangle pan at 325 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes, until brown and crusty on top.

Isn't it amazing what people will do when someone tells them that "God" says you should do this. I found today's show with preacher Michael Pearl interesting and scary because of the effect he is having on some families. Read your bible and see if God would have really told you to harm your child.... Get real people!!!!
I grew up in Michigan and we always called it "dressing." So not necessarily a southern term.
Hello Anderson
I just wanted you to know how much I enjoy your show. I pvr it everyday. I really thought that todays was very special. What you & Birdseye Foods did for PS M5 20 getting the backpack program for the entire school was especially heart warming. Thank You for all that you do to make this a better world. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Sincerely
Hester Yaworski
RE: Eric Stonestreet's holiday dressing recipe.... Anderson seemed not to know the term "dressing." It is the term used all over the South for what others may call "stuffing." Add an equal part of baked, crumbled cornbread to the bread pieces in Eric's recipe and you have Southern Cornbread Dressing (NEVER called stuffing whether baked inside or outside the turkey). I'm quite sure Anderson's Mississippi-bred father was well acquainted with the delicious "Cornbread Dressing," the star of any Southern Thanksgiving or Christmas celebration. The sausage is optional and oysters or toasted pecans are often used in its place.
Hi Anderson, jus*****ched your segment with Jamie Oliver 11/23. Your father and my beloved mother, Florence Irene Covington, were from Quitman, MS. I lost her on her 83rd birthday, January 29, 2009. Great to hear that your favorite pie is pecan - so is mine, but you must not pronounce it preCAN! Not going to tell you should say it - find out. Love you and love to your mother! Tommie
I am sitting here depressed knowing that I can't fix a thanksgiving dinner because of low income. I have been a Nurse for 30 years and now I can't work do to being on Permanent Disability. It is so difficult for me to ask for anything and I am sooo embarrassed to even expressing these feelings. Who ever reads this message have a wonderful Thanksgiving and a Merry Christmas. God Bless

i loved grandma helen's secret recipe with eric stone street. thanks. from leo.
Your Grandma's recipe is similar to my grandmothers. She was from North Carolina. They called it dressing because it dressed the turkey. Meaning it added to the flavor etc. We made ours in little patties and baked it in the oven.
RE: Grandma Helen's dressing ... I've benn making a similar dressing for years and everyone raves about it. I use Banquet maple flavored sausage, browned and chopped into very small squares; chicken livers, also chopped fine; and of course the chopped onions, celery and some green pepper. I use the Pepperidge Farm seasoned stuffing and follow the directions on the package. Be sure not to be stingy on the sausage (several boxes; 4-6 boxes) and do not overwhelm dressing with the chicken livers. I do not add any eggs, don't think they are necessary. If you try this variation, I hope you enjoy !!
All set. I got all the ingredients for "Grandma Helen's" holiday dressing! I'm ready to go! Good job Anderson on the cooking segment with Jamie Oliver. I know you were just kidding around but you should seriously try cooking a full meal in your show. Maybe you have discovered a hidden talent!! Great idea rubbing herbed butter all over the turkey. Funny that I've been watching Food Network and other cooking shows for an entire week looking for ideas and I just found the perfect recipes on your show!! Happy Thanksgiving!
I'm from the south and we always have said "dressing". Stuffing is something that comes in a box.
Stonetreet, Anderson and all the rest of the homosexual agenda do not need to portray the family out of their ideology just because the family structure has crumbled across the globe due to this kind of media portrayal. It is so sad that these people groups ( L.G.B.T. ) have their consciences seared from the liar of this world. If only by Faith they would qui*****ching the many churches and cry out to GOD ( Father, Son and Holy Spirit ) and find the truth of what Christ spoke to the world and to many religious leaders and come into a true bornagain experience in Christ through trie heart repentance.
please explain why I couldn't print Erics' Grandmothers stuffing receipe? Couldn't there be a Print button or something?
I love Anderson Cooper,he is so kind to his guests, and he is so honest about his dislikes about brussel sprouts and spinach. He makes me laugh ,and I love that he is so close to his mother. I just think he is what we needed to watch in these tough times-a breath of fresh air.thanks Anderson for everything. from a loyal viewer,Joyce Wilper
