#ProudPSUforRAINN Campaign

In the wake of the recent events at Penn State University, a grassroots network of PSU alumni are standing up for victims of sexual abuse by supporting RAINN's (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network) effort to prevent sexual abuse and treat its victims.

The two groups have joined together, “to mobilize the Penn State fan base -- alumni, students, parents and fans -- to ensure something like this never happens again -- anywhere.”

The #ProudPSUforRAINN Campaign is raising money for victims of sex abuse. They have raised over $300,000 (and still counting), and their goal is to raise $500,000.

Thank you for doing this show. As a person who endured this horrific crime, I was number one and many surfaced during the trial. Because I came forward, I not only won my life back, but he went to jail. For the first time, America is actually not sweeping rape under the carpet. I have been fighting for every victim the knowledge of the importance to report this terrible crime. It is very true that due to enduring what my assailant did to me change who I am, but I refuse to let him take all of me. We as a country need to stop avoiding this crime and take action so that children and adult do not have to endure the torture of rape. We have to fight by prosecuting these cases regardless of who did it. My rapist was a coworker and my boss swept it under the carpet and that is when I took charge and went to the police. I had to prove he raped me, drugged me so I could not move and fight back, but because I came forward, he went to jail and did not get away with it. I fought back not only for myself, but for any other possible victim. I save how knows how many women form this crime, and will continue to fight to help stop this crime and make stronger laws and I believe that there should be no statute of limitation on rape. Only 20% of victims report it (this is for adults) but no one knows how many child/adults really go though this crime.

It takes so much strength to endure the justice system as well. We need better laws and stronger sentences and consequences.

I have to say it is sad that it took something like this to wake america up, but I also am thankful that FINALLY is being taken seriously.

The fact that organizations like RAINN exists is a good first step as it creates an awareness of such incidents. Its effectiveness is another thing. I might have caught RAINN at a bad time when I called, cause I didn't get much out of the call.

First and foremost I believe the most important priority is to focus on the recovery of the victims. I don't care about persecuting the guilty party (unless the victim is comfortable doing so and is helpful in the recovery process), the whole law process is extremely stressful to the victim.

This is from a clip documentary I saw. It has a person's account of his childhood and the persecuting process. Its done in a throwaway style of delivery though.

These things shouldn't happen to begin with. Unfortunately those who are fully capable of protecting themselves are being protected while those who are unable to protect themselves are left vulnerable.

I completely agree that laws needs to be enforced, so these incidents can be prevented. But with the resources that are out there currently, it clearly isn't enough.

@RAINN, how many of those children that were raped do you think need talk? What every child of rape needs is action, not lobbying but action that puts more fear in the child rapist than the victim. It matters not how many laws are created in the name of protecting children if those laws are not followed they are meaningless. If there is no organization out there to assist in giving children legal representation when they are failed by those sworn to protect they remain victims of systemic child rape. Your organizations fails in assisting children with medically documented signs of child rape, it fails to hold law enforcement accountable for when they fail to protect children. What you offer local crisis centers offer, as a matter of fact you refer them to local crisis centers. Organizations that make money via stating that they advocate for children rape victims when they do nothing in the way of stopping it are in my opinion a part of the problem. Your given a false sense of hope believing that your childs voice is important when in truth and practice it is ignored. Exposing more cases of systemic child rape would go a lot further than all the talk of legislating change could ever do. It breaks the silence.

Our Online Hotline provides support and resources to over 2200 people a month effected by sexual violence. The hotline is a safe place for victims to talk, in many cases for the first time, about what they experienced and brainstorm resources with compassionate and trained staff. The National Sexual Assault Hotlines provide an invaluable place for victims/survivors to reach out and talk about what happened when they may have no where else to turn.

@Kevin thank you for your response. I agree with what your saying and believe still that if they would provide legal assistance to children of child rape independent of the prosecuting county. These organizations do not do enough to make child rapist fearful of the consequences of raping a child.

I have offered the Anderson Show evidence of the systemic rape of a child. Documented police corruption and oral and rectal sodomy. It is my hope that they will choose to do what is morally right and that is expose it.

This last month in Missoula, Mt., a young woman working in a mental health establishment, knew a counselor from her place of work was watching child pornography at his home. She highly suspected he was hurting some of the children of single mothers he often babysat. This young woman went to her superiors, up, and up, and up to the top... she was told that if she called the police, she would be fired. When nothing happened to protect this child, she called the police and evidence was found of child pornography and probably other evidence that is being held confidential. She was fired immediately. Their defense is that they couldn't report this information to the police because of "confidentiality" issues for the child. Well..... this type of immorality among the "higher ranks" should NEVER be tolerated! This type of abuse is happening everywhere, here in small town U.S.A. , and when I was a child. I pray for the strong, moral people to help find a way to stop this outrage. This B.S. cannot be HIDDEN and IGNORED anymore!
This info can be found at our local paper website www.missoulian.com about two weeks ago. God Bless the Children~~~

Child rape for organizations like RAINN is a money maker. Look at what they do:http://www.rainn.org/ No where in there will you find that they have legal resources for alleged victims of abuse. Victims of rape don't need another organization to lobby for change what they need is legal assistance and counseling when those sworn to protect and serve fail. I brought to their attention a child with documented evidence of sodomy that has been facilitated by those sworn to protect and their advice was if you can't afford an attorney contact legal aid. That's some of what those willing to give money to them are paying for. Penn State is an opportunity to put their name out there in an effort to get donations for RAINN.

If Joe Paterno or any other person walking by saw HIS CHILD, OR HIS GRANDCHILD being raped, what do you think would have happened? He would have beaten Sandusky's head against a locker until he was dead. There is no excuse for allowing a child to endure that.NONE.
