Madoff Victims Speak Out After Seeing Mack Interview

Wednesday, November 02, 2011 7:00PM

Bernie Madoff's horrendous crime affected the lives of thousands of innocent people. On Wednesday's show, Anderson interviews Stephanie Madoff Mack to hear her side of the story, but it was also important to meet some of Bernie's victims, everyday people who lost it all.

Maureen, one of Bernie's victims, had to work three jobs after being impacted by his fraud. In the studio, Maureen shares her thoughts after hearing Mack's interview.

"Stephanie paints herself as a very sympathetic figure," says Maureen. "We can never minimize the loss of someone's life. I lost my husband. I know the grief that that causes, however, she has written a book and is trying to make money from the book."

Maureen asks, "Is she going to give any of that money to the victims?"

Take a look at what more Maureen had to say about Mack, including saying she "lived like a queen," while the victims, like herself, worked hard for their money.

As I can sympathize with Bernie Madoff's victims, I disagree however that Stephanie Mack should have to cover any of the victims losses with the earnings from her book. This book is a tribute to her husband, Mark. This book allowed Stephanie to tell Mark's story.

Stephanie and her children have already paid substantially for the crimes that Bernie Madoff committed.

I feel for the victims as well as Stephanie and Marks four children. I don't feel that Stephanie should have to give the money from her book to the victims when she has a family to suport. Until their is proof that Mark was involved in the ponzi, they should leave his family family alone. A lot of people ask how he could not know. My husband and I have a business together and there alot of thing that are done behined my back, that I find out after the fact. Mark was crushed by his father and mother. He lived with guilt and the fact that he turned his own father in should count for something. As far as Ruth, Andrew and his girl friend yes, I feel any money that they make off there book should go to the victmins and there family. I feel his girl friend is just out to make money off the book, if anything give that money to Andrew ex wife and his two daughters, not to Andrew, Ruth or Andrew girl friend. And to all the victmin, how can you invest your money and not keep closer account on it. You just don't turn life savings over to some one and take their work, that is just crazy. It is a sad thing, but you do need to take some responsibility.

I feel for the victims of this scam, not for the Madoff family.
The M family should give all their book profits to those who lost their life savings, not just their penthouse life style.

First and foremost, I feel saddened for all the victims of Bernie Madoff. All of the victims in my eyes, include Stephanie and her family. So the feds will probe and take everything from her, including what her husband earned legitimately. She still has a family to provide for. Therefore, I think the money from the book should be hers. I hear the victims stories of not having the money they invested when a member of the family was diagnosed with cancer. Their money was invested by choice. I am a 43 yr.old hard working woman. I have worked since I was thirteen, starting with odd jobs, to getting a work permit, to working two full-time jobs at a time. I have never been able to save or invest, because my paychecks only get me by from the time I receive one, till the time I get the next one. And I lost my boyfriend at the age of 37 to Cancer and My step-father just as he was to begin his.retirement. My final words ...thats life for me, and I have to move on, I can't wish I had what others have no matter how they got it. There are a lot of people who get more money from me than they should. In everyday bills and spending. But then I think... I love myself, my family, and I deal with what has been dealt to me. And I'm aware of people that are worse off than me. So victims stories are sad, mine is also, but thee are people worse off than myself too. I don't intend on this being a hateful comment. I only see Stephanie as a victim also. And the Bernie Victims were saying son hurtful words of blame and where her money should go.
