What's the One Place You Want to Visit? (Audience Q&A)

Saturday, October 29, 2011 5:00AM

Anderson has expressed his adoration for his hometown of New York City, his favorite vacation spots of Rome and Colombia, and a variety of other places he's had the opportunity to visit both on and off the job.

But what’s the one place he hasn't been to that he would like to visit?

One of our audience members asked, and you may be surprised by Anderson's answer.

Talk about where you would most like to visit in the comments below.

I've always wanted to go to England. I don't mind the fog or the rain since I feel my best in weather like that. I had a pen pal named Marilyn Corbett whose father was a Bobbie and she had a mom and a brother. I began corresponding with her in the fifth grade. I've longed to find her and to see her country. I feel a bond and closeness that leaves me with a yearning to be there. I am now sixty and unless a miracle happens, my visit to England will only be in my dreams.

I have always wanted to go to Holland. My Grand Fathers family came over from Holland on the Mayflower. They settled in Pennsylvania and were know as the Pennsylvania Dutch.
My second choice would be to go to Korea to see my grandson and his wife who are stationed there. I now have my first two great grand children which I will meet someday when they come back to the states. I am so looking forward to that.

I am writing about people like us who had travelled in the past but due to limitations, obligations and restrictions families like us cannot take a vacations when you are blessed with a dsisable child, who takes most of your day to day life that you have remaining in this world.
So traveling to exotic places and learning new cultures are a dream come true for all people in all works of life, but persons or people with limitations cannot fulfill their dream.
I am a living proof of that because when my child was diagnosed with all these abnormalities, then all our dreams were ****tered
and went away from us , now we only live for them, I cannot think of anything else rather than these kids.
I wanted to tell Anderson about what parents like us feel.

thanks

The one place I would like to visit is Hawaii. My father was stationed there in WW II and I have a picture of him standing in front of the Royal Hawaiian Hotel wearing a grass skirt. He loved Hawaii. I have traveled all over the US and Europe but never Hawaii. Now I am divorced and can't afford to go - such is life.

I have never been outside of the country but I have always felt like I need to go to Jerusalem. So if I ever get the money or some miracle should come my way that's where I would go.

One of my passions is genealogy. Based on my ancestors, I would like to visit, Herkimer, Herkimer Co. NY & Waynesburg, Pulaski Co KY. Then my absolute desire is to go to the Scotish Highlands to find my McNaul descendants, and Baconsthorpe, England.

I'd love to visit Frankenmuth, Michigan. We did have plans to go there the weekend Hurricane Katrina ravaged Louisiana, and other states. We watched CNN and opted not to drive there because of reported problems of gas shortages. So instead, we wound up in New London, Connecticut. The hotel only had one cable channel - CNN! Anderson, you were great and your coverage was awesome of the hurricane. But we were craving maybe a movie? Anyway, we never did get the chance to reschedule. I understand Frankenmuth has the largest Christmas store in the world (several football fields). I hope we get there some day.

Do you get emotionally involved with the stories you report? Do you help the people you see, like after Katrina in NO, Miss. or Alabama?
