I personally know this young man and to say such things about him is outrageous. Adam, you wouldn't want someone judging you by a 10 minute clip of something you said when you were 13 years old. Have some heart and think if this boy were your son or someone close to you. The community he lives in is extremely proud for everything he has accomplished. He does not act as if anything is owed to him because of what he's had to go through with cancer. He's your average teenage boy with hopes and dreams of living his life with sports, friends and happiness.

How is it people found negatives in this story?? Do you know how hard cancer is, let alone survive it? He is a role model and yes it is about mind set. It isn't everything but it is a big part of it. Dugan keep up what you are doing. You are an amazing boy who didn't give up your dream when the odds were against you especially Bone Cancer.

Some people may not think this young man is courageous but they have obviously never had to go through such a traumatizing life-changing event, especially that young.

Dugan is the epitome of courageous. I don't know of any child that age who would be able to have the strength both mentally and emotionally to make the kind of decision he was faced with. He appears to be very intelligent and articulate.

I also feel his parents deserve kudos for raising such a special young man. I'm sure they must be extremely proud of him. I think any parent would be.

I think the comment by the young boy that "90% of survival is in the mind" is a terrible analogy. There are 100's of kids with cancer that are positive and up beat as they go thru their treatments, they WANT to live and they WANT to be cancer free. If beating cancer was only to think positive thoughts, well there wouldn't be kids dying everyday from cancer. Cancer is ugly and unpredictable.... Treatments don't work for everyone, and lots of families suffer the loss of their children. I am glad that he survived and that everything worked for him, but he should be more in tune to the fact that other kids aren't as lucky as him.

Courageous?
No.

He had 2 options:
1) Lay back and take the surgery the doctors were recomending.
2) Jump out of the hospital window.

He's not courageous, he's just not stupid.

Love your show..good topics and you have a credibility that enhances the subject at hand. This Dugan story is amazing and would be true for so many kids who want to play sports more than anything else in the world. The story about the Johnstons is also super, bringing awareness to a whole group of under represented people.
