Amy's guilt is understandable. As a woman we believe we are helping our family and improving our lives. When that back fires society has taught us that it is all our fault and therefore we take the blame. Which is fine as long as we learn from it and move on. As a woman it's not so easy. We retain the memory of it forever to the point it can affect our health and future relationships. Men have the ability to cut themselves off from that kind of mental torture and rarely take responsibility in the same way unless they have had either a huge trauma or been feminized. Sad but true. We are still the keepers of the family.
