Tanya Williams: 'I Slept with a Knife Under My Bed'
“I slept with a knife under my bed,” says Tanya. “Out of fear because I didn't know who was walking into my bedroom. He (Jayson) would go out consistently for a period of time, and when he came in, I didn't know who was walking in my door. Was it the Jayson I had fallen in love with 20 years ago, or was it the Jayson who was going to come in and be upset with me because his life was in the toilet?”
Watch Tanya discuss how keeping a knife nearby became normal for her...
The National Domestic Violence Hotline is a powerful weapon in the fight against abuse. If you or someone you know is in an abusive relationship, call 1-800-799-SAFE. This number links you to a domestic violence advocate who can connect you to the nearest domestic violence center in your area. The call is totally anonymous. It's untraceable. The first step is picking up the phone and calling for help. Please take that first step.

Privately run shelter for male victims of domestic abuse forced to close its doors due to lack of funding
I'm sorry Tonya, but having those kids in the bed with you was for your own protection and had nothing to do with their safety. Unless I'm missing something you were endangering those kids' lives by exposing them to a potentially volatile situation that they would not have been aware of had they been in their own rooms.
Tonya, I am so proud of you taking this step in your life. I to have done the same. I am a survivor and I am on a mission to helping others. You can check out my website at www.margaretsargentscott.info and learn more about what I endured from a child on into my adult life. It is a honor to see you helping others. God Bless and I will do my part in helping others as well.
Sadly one of my abusive intimates of ten years, handed me my own Cutco chef's knife out to the drawer and asked me to stab him for being so irresponsible and taking us down the toilet in a mirage of drugs, sex and child endangerment. Stockholm Syndrome takes effect after five minutes ... imagine ten years ... am a professional oboist/english hornist 40 years, chef and worked as a sales manager for WEAREVER - CUTCO while living in RALEIGH, NC and WINSTON-SALEM, NC. After my own family never protected me from harm, drugs, alcohol, getting lost covered in scrapes and bruises, in my teens, spent summers in my tent and prefer to be alone unless making a difference with others of like consciousness. Even Henry David went home to mother for lunch and had the boys out to Walden after church most Sundays. James Brown's, "This is a Man's World" keeps my razors sharpened and my articulation keen especially for Supreme Court Judges who are all bullies and mean. The world is upside down this is not some Hollywood Screen. They are hoarding the dollars instead of being green. Talk is cheap in the school halls the molesters, traffickers and drug peddlers creep, the young ladies without work are getting paid by mindless sheep who'll sell anything under the drawers and sell it for a mindless unadulterated under-monitored peep. While child rapists are never prosecuted and the delirious 'protection' rates too steep. Today the word is JOBS like Steve, more light for battered women thanks for throwing back the boulders, Anderson these Neanderthals heave. Break the Silence - Stop the Violence NCADV saved MY life to some extent but it's NOT ENOUGH and due to techno world marvels we also have dangers. Hacking, stings, missing rings, doctors, horse pit alls and tests on animals. All is far too primal but one to seek is Jane Goodall and Dr. Anna Lee Tingle Fisher, like Glo V are so remarkable to me or even the most interesting and unusual children's book author JANN BRETT. She inspired my children when young no end and loves to respond to children from letters they send, packages surprises and is more amazing the way she humanizes animals in tales. EVEN, Anderson her very own husband and his colleagues in Boston Symphony, BERLIOZ THE BEAR a well-loved story by ALL! Thanks for what you do, your show makes me feel so happy and hopeful these days! You are well-loved and when I tell my musicians and artists how you listen, they are listening, too and the results of a vision for a cleaner and more meaningful life abounds! GO ANDERSON!
