In December 2010 Delta lost Patch in Cairo, in August, AA lost Jack at JFK, and Air Canada lost George. Patch’s owner moved back to Cairo to try to find him. I don’t know if she’s had any luck, Patch’s new carrier is broken, Jack has volunteers looking for him, giving out posters, e-mailing posters to nearby businesses. George is still being searched for. All Mommys are frantic and Patch’s Mommy was in tears at the Cairo Airport.
Please look on FB for Find Baxter & Cooper. Please help to find these babies. Thank you
I just wanted to share a missing dog story. While I was in Germany visiting my brother and his wife, we left their new Mastif mix, Gemma, at a kennel. The kennel had rave reviews so we felt very confident leaving our sweet girl there for one night.
The next day on our way to pick up Gemma we got a call telling us that she had escaped the fenced in area (which was a 7 foot fenced yard) franticly we raced to the kennel to search for her. Now, trying to explain the lay of the land around this kennel is dificult; in short, the kennel was inside a retired army base with many parshal fences and new nature trails for hikers.
So many thoughts ran though our minds while looking for Gemma. What if some one had stolen her or picked her up? How on Earth did she escape anyway? The worst though, would we find her? We looked for hours multiple times troughout the day, on foot and while driving. The feeling was terrible, an empty pit in our stomachs and a sadness in our hearts.
At 2 in the morning we heard the phone ring and answered it promptly. It was the kennel owner, she said that Gemma had come to the door and barked but again vanished into the night. We were on the road headed there in moments, half way there she called again to say that she had gotten Gemma inside and she was safe. The feeling of reliefe was amazing, we were ecstatic!
Reuniting with Gemma was amazing, she was just as excited to see us as we were to see her. With further inspection, the slight irritaions on her stomach seemed to point to her actually climbing the 7ft fence and pulling herself over to escape! She was missing for about 17 hours.
Aside from getting her back safe and sound, one of the best parts of her return was my sister in law getting to tell my brother (her husband) that Gemma was home, safe. He had been waiting to hear back from us as he was deployed in Afghanistan.
Our story is one with a happy ending, I hope that others have a similar outcome! The pet tracking devices are an amazing thing to invest in. Also, if you choose to use a kennel to watch your pets, one that has roofed/covered areas may prevent an escape.
As a dog owner & lover for my entire life I loved today's show!!! Cannot believe however the "comment" that the dog walker had you read on TV. His dog walking days are over for anyone who truely cares about animals! Since he obviously cared more about $ in the search for the beloved family pet I'm not sure how truely careful he was with their dog. Makes you worry even more about who to trust your 4 legged family members with!
