I just found your site and was so touched by your Mother's comments to the other grieving mother. I work with bereaved people and know how important it is for them to be able to talk about their loved ones. On another subject-- Please ask your Mother if she remembers a well known dress designer from the late 40's and early 50's who was from the New York area.I believe she was a friend of your Mother' because she had a framed photo of your Mother on her piano.
It's not easy to get through the loss of family. I lost 2 brothers, a sister, niece, Mom and Dad and other relatives. Two brothers from car accidents at age 17 and a sister age 35 and her daughter years later at 21. I think Gloria is a brave gracious woman who holds her pain inside and so does Anderson. I feel it is something we never get over but we move on to live our lives.
God bless you Gloria and Anderson.
I remember reading a book about your Mother's life. Gee it was a looong time ago. It was a purple paperback, it was about you Mother's life when she was young and going through the pull and tug of a custody battle. I still remember it to this day. I couldn't put it down. I always wanted to go the the Vanderbelt mansion and finally got there about 5 years ago. Unbelievable place and when you went in the back the lawn was amazing and of course when you entered to go into the mansions. I don't get to do much Anderson - you are a lucky person.

I beleive that the Mother is Soooo innocent. My heart and prayers goes out to her and her family.
Having enjoyed Miss Vanderbilt's books thru the years it
was a real pleasure to be able to enjoy this indomintable
lady on Anderson Cooper. The interaction of Mother and Son
was heartwarming and a wondeful thing to share.Thank you.
What a beautiful lady, inside and out . . . I am the same age as Gloria, and she truly inspires me . . . lovely to see the deep affection between Gloria and Anderson . . . he is a genuine person, and certainly much of that endearing trait must come from his truly wonderful mother.
Many years ago I read a book called Little Gloria: Happy at Last which gave an indepth view of Gloria's mother and the custody trial for Little Gloria. I found it to be a fascinating, troubling and heartfelt account of the people and their times. The connection to Wallis Warfield Simpson and "David" (Edward VIII) was also detailed and from that time on I have been an admirer of Gloria and what she has achieved. Your mother is a truly amazing woman. My husband and I both enjoy your show and the topics you discuss. The episode with John Edward was just incredible. I love your open-mindedness and sense of wonder. May it stay that way!!!
I was not able to see the show where you interviewed/loved your mother. I heard about it and wondered if it is possible to buy a copy of that show? I wanted to view it in hopes that it might be a tool for me to use with people who are suffering, grieving, etc. in my church. Thank you for your show and your honesty and your warmth of caring.
Dear Anderson Cooper, I just finished watching your tribute to your mother. I to lost a daughter to suicide in 2003, she was 41 and a beautiful woman. I believe that time does heal, but as I listened to your story I know that the hole in my heart will always be there, but her memory will always be in my heart. I went to Africa after her death to work with HIV orphans as part of the healing process. Life does go on we realize that in spite of all our pain, there are others whose pain is deeper then ours.
Thank you,
Susan
Thank you, Anderson, for such a wonderfully, touching hour today with your incredible Mother.

Both you and your Mother are amazing examples of how to live with grief and move forward in honor of your Father and Brother.
Thank you so much,

After watching your show today I got all excited about your mothers book A Mothers Story. I went to amazon and was shocked to see the price of the book starting at $ 90.00 and going as high as $2100.00 I was going to purcchase for my mother in law who lost a son 5 years ago.
Apparnently the book is just for the rich and famous.
I was so disappointed. I had looked forward all week to the interview with Anderson and his mom. I live in the San Francisco area and Anderson has been on all week at 3:00. Without warning the schedule was changed and Fridays show was aired at 1:00. It does not help a shows ratings when the viewer does not know when it is on.
I think Anderson has one of the best talk shows on T.V. and would have a great chance of success if the time slot was stable.

Is there any way to get a copy of Gloria's book A Mother's Story? Thank you.
loved your show today, could you please send me your quote of your mothers that is your favorite, thanks
Anderson,
I loved your segment of the show on your remarkable Mother. Over 20 years ago, I created her childhood room in miniature inside a fishtank for MiniLands my museum of childhood. It was published in the early eighties in Nutshell News and is titled "Gloria's Christmas 1929." My website is www.minilands.org My son was in the same class at Princeton with your brother. I still have one of her wonderful pillows with tulips. I saved the wonderful photo of you and your brother featured in your bedroom wearing marine uniforms for Town & Country. My museum documents childhood for the 20th century and your Mother is truly one of the stars of my 400 miniature children's rooms within my dollhouse and doll art collection. She has convinced me that at age 74 the best is yet to be.
Thank you for sharing Gloria Vanderbilt with us in such a special way.
