Judy Collins Performs 'Amazing Grace'
Gloria Vanderbilt’s favorite singer, the legendary Judy Collins, surprises her with a special performance of “Amazing Grace.” The two women became friends after the 1992 suicide of Judy’s son Clark.
To Judy, “I love you dearly, sweetheart,” says Gloria.
Enjoy this touching performance...
Judy has a new CD being released October 18th called “Bohemian.”

Anderson, I saw your show today and it touched me so much I had to respond and I never respond to these shows..... My brother passed away unexpectedly on Christmas Eve and we had his memorial service on Wednesday...my mom and I love the song Amazing Grace... and we sang it at my brother's memorial service... then hearing Judy Collins sing it so beautifully on Thursday was such a beautiful gift and it is a sign to me to know that everything will be alright. I really loved your show today with your mom and how you are able to share your vulnerability and parts of your life with us. You became more "attractive" in a way that we want to get to know you better as a friend... and that is great leadership too... thanks for your show, I only see it once in awhile and it seems that when I saw it, I was meant to see it... thanks for all your effort and passion in doing what you love...just think if we all followed our passions using our strengths and gifts? That is my passion, to help people find their potential through their "Dependable Strengths" so they can go in the world to do what they can uniquely do the best... thanks again, for the timely show.... love ya! What you do is very special !!!
First time I have seen your show. Thanks for sharing your mother with us. Loved Judy Collins. Her version of Amazing Graze is my all time favorite. Her voice is as clear & clean as the first time I heard it years ago. Would she care to give a copy to Bill O'reilly to put on the Wounded Warriors site for his charity drive. 100% of sales goes to our men & women who have sacrificed so that we can live in this great country. God Bless all of you.
Sincerely Doris Simonis Odessa, Mo.
Judy Collins' performance of Amazing Grace was absolutely beautiful, I want to play it at my Granny's grave site. She passed away last year and I was unable to attend her funeral, she made me promise I'd play her favorite songs "Unchained Melody" and "Amazing Grace" when she died. I was unable to, but I bought an old boom box at a garage sale in Louisville, Ky for fifty cents and recorded Unchained Melody on a CD. I would love to get a CD of Judy Collins' version of Amazing Grace and play it at my granny's grave. I plan on driving to San Francisco this spring, to finally visit her grave site. I want to set up that old boom box and play her two favorite songs and keep my promise.
Do you know where I could get a copy of Judy singing this song?
Thank you,
JoAnn
How in the world all the surgeons in the world could make her look this good at 87! Unbelieveable!!!!
Many hugs and kisses to you and your Mom. I've lost my entire family. Bless all of you!
I have listened to Judy Collins since the middle 60's. Her songs have touched my heart. Have healed my pain. I have related to so many of them on a personal level. But, her voice, is like a crystal. It's perfect! It's like a very fine wine and gets better with age. She gets more beautiful and her voice just more clarity all the time. I love her music, I love her voice and I love her being around and hope she will be for years to come. Bless everyone.
Dear Anderson,
Like you I had a wonderful mother. My mom passed away this past June 2011 but she left my siblings and I wonderful memories. I am so happy for you that you still have your mom.

Am also a big Anderson Cooper fan.....before I knew who you were.
Anderson, Thank you for talking to your mom about the suicide of your brother. I lost my 18 year old son to suicide June 8, 2009. I can very much related to everything your mom said about surviving and how much work just breathing in and breathing out can be in the beginning. Also, thank you for acknowledge closure is something that doesn't exist. Nor do I really want closure on my son. Like you saved your mom, my younger son, who was 14 at the time of his brothers death (he found him with a gun shot to his head)he saved me. Thank you and please please please have more shows about suicide - prevention, talking about it and how to survive.
Thank you Anderson and much much thanks to your mom.
I fell in love with Judy Collins in 1967 or 68 the first time I heard "Both Sides Now". She is as beautiful and gentle-spirited as one can be. Amazing Grace on Monday's show made me cry. Thank you.
Absolutely love your new show! I loved your mom's grace, elegance, spirit, & love for you. I cried when Judy Collins sang. Thanks for sharing part of your life.
