Hello, your website says the cost for genetic testing is $99.00 but I went to the 23andme website and it's asking for $299.00. The website also doesn't explain a whole lot about what information is gained for joining.

Great shows.

Q:
I must have missed something, the price listed above for the DNA test states $99 but the website shows $299. Any discounts?

Abandoned at Birth segment was especially interesting for me as I was not abandoned, but adopted, I search and found my biological family, I just want to caution searchers what you find can be unexpected to say the least. Make sure that you understand you would not be adopted if the family situation were perfect, there were reasons you were adopted and are you ready to hear them. Please make sure. I did accomplish what I wanted, to know what everyone else knows and takes for granted, my roots and my medical knowledge.

Hello...my recording was cut short on the abandoned girls story...it was beautifully done. My curiosity is up about the DNA results, and did they discover their ethnic roots?

Thanks for answering?

Children who aren't wanted by their genetic parents...adopted by people who surround them with love and give them a life...so blessed.
I am 45 and have been abandoned by my parents my whole life. A mother who alienated me from family and friends, including my father. Robbed of having relationships with grandparents, relatives. Pushed down, discouraged, demeaned. When I left my sons father, she tried to estrange me from my son by supporting his father, lying to me and relatives about my situation. Discounted my whole life, my sister an alcoholic and myself with some pretty serious issues which I am trying to unravel myself every day.
I realise that my mother is a narcissist. I have real issues of self worth, I struggle with depression. In any case, if you have family who love you and cherish you and relationships with the people that you know, and even if you lose a loved one,you had the opportunity to be loved. That's truly a blessed life. I'm at a stage of my life where I look at people's loving family relationships, and I can't even understand what that might feel like. I have my own family now, a wonderful son, and a great husband. I have a strong connection to my sister, I really feel for her pain, and how she has never gotten over her childhood and how she is slowly killing herself with alcohol.
Please feel lucky that the biological parents who didn't want you and were bloodless and conscienceless enough to abandon you, gave you the opportunity to be loved by better, more worthy parents, who felt blessed that you were in their lives.

Sadly, in my area, we did not get to see the full show, FOOTBALL over ran, so, they cut out many parts including the results of the DNA genetic testing, which myself and my daughter were waiting to see. We had watched this together as this was also her beginning, found on someone's front yard in a Nordstroms Shopping bag and discovered to be only an hour old. No parents even found. I've told her what happened starting from a young age, as much as she could understand as the years went by. She now knows all that I know. I obtain a News Tape from a News Network, that took a while to achieve, I also spent a couple of years trying to get the little evidence from the Police Dept, I now have that also. She came to us when she was one month old and we adopted her. They called her Baby Dawn, around the same time several other babies were also abandoned and shortly after a new law went into effect for the Safe Baby drop, so that people could leave a baby, with, no questions asked at a fire Station or hospital in safety. I wish I could answer her questions, but, truely cannot. I DO say, that the Fireman and Police people who found her ALL wanted to adopt her, that they all said she was the Best Dressed Abandoned baby that they had ever found and that she was not found in just ANY shopping bag, but, a NORDSTROMS Bag ! Nordstroms when they learnt of this even sent a special gift package to the Foster mum who looked after for the few short weeks she was there, she gave me some of the pieces when we picked her up.
She also wonders who she is, I tell her, she is lucky as she can be who ever she wants to be, she has a beautiful darker complexion and she could be Indian, Hispanic, Hawaiian or from many other places !

I turned on the tv today and a show I have never seen was just starting. This show, WOW! It was one of those momments in life where something just said keep watching and as the story of these two ladies was told I felt moved and connected instantly.

At the age of 30 and a child of adoption their stories really touched me. When they spoke of all those questions growing up I relieved my childhood as well. I think as a child who doesn't know where they come from, in any circumstance, there is this feeling of disconnect and being lost. I hope that one day they both can find the answers to all their questions. Comfort in how lucky they have been and how strong their experiece has made them.

I was very lucky, in my sistuation I was only in foster care for 3 months before being adopted by two very loving parents. Life as with everyone had ups and downs but I knew each and every day how lucky I was to have had this chance in life, to be loved and cared for by two people that would move heaven and earth for me.

At the age of 18 I began a search for my biological mother and within a few months had found her. I than several years later became connected to my biological father. There is no way to explain breifly what these years have been like. Going from someone who was an only child to the eldest of 7 brothers and sisters was such an overwhelming and moving experience. I can't say that I have had all positives but I would never change knowing where I come from and having the chance to ask the questions and feel like I am not the only one like me.

I still struggle now with how "my start" began in life but definatley embracing the positives and how it has shaped me to be a compassionite and understanding indiviual makes it feel like it was meant to be and in gods plan.

I hope that Ashley and Allison continue to learn about themselves and want to aplaud them both for their courage, compassion and strength in life. What an amazing and inspiration story they both have.

Also I will definatley be tuning in again to Anderson!

Wow,what an awesome show. It had me thinking about my sperm donors genetics:). I have wanted for the last 3 years to find my biological father. I just found out 3 years ago that the name on my birth certificate is not my father, just a name. My mother passed away when I was 16 years old and no one on my mothers side of my family seem to know anything. I am going to sent for the genetic testing to find out if I have any african anchestry. All my life I was told I am african american, but my looks have changed and I just don't know. My children would really appreciate knowing also. Great show and I pray for the young ladies with my whole heart. Continue to have inspiring shows like that one and we will be seeing you for 25 + years:)

I am so happy I got to watch and learn these two girls stories.

My story is VERY similar. I was born November 25th 1987 in Alberta Canada. I placed in a garbage bag and then left in a parking lot. I was found by two young boys walking home from school. I am in the process of looking for my birth parents but its hard when I have zero information on them. No one came forward to claim me. I was adopted at 9 days old :)
