Winehouse Family Claims Drugs Did Not Cause Death
The Winehouse family claims Amy hadn’t used illegal drugs for three years and they were not the cause of her death. In this exclusive clip from Monday’s premiere show, Amy’s father, Mitch Winehouse, tells Anderson that prescription drugs may turn up in the toxicology report, but absolutely no illegal drugs.

Although I know little of Amy Winehouse other than what I have seen in the tabloids, I find this first program of Anderson's a bit lacking. If it is true that she was in a self-destructive state and her death perhaps due to detoxing because of alcoholism, why was there not a medical expert on alcoholism on the program? From watching and listening to this program, I take away a sense that the parents idolized her and perhaps were very permissive in their parenting. They admit that she was a very active child with a mind of her own but even so, limits must be set early on so kids learn that there are limits and, overtime, learn to set those live limits themselves. She seemed like a person on a self-destructive mode, never finding true happiness and always reaching to find that elusive meaning to her life. When I see people self-mutilate with body-piercings and tatoos, I feel it is an attend to improve themselves because they are not happy with who they are. The pain involved in those acts make them feel "alive". I think that Amy was a very disturbed young woman who called out for years for help. Her parents did indeed try to rescue her but unfortunately, if you know anything at all about alcoholism, you know that the person with the disease is the only person who can really help. An expert on alcoholism could have explained to the viewers that alcoholics are very adept at covering up their disease and leading those around them to believe that they are on a positive path when the truth is that they are hiding their drinking. I suspect that this might have been true of Amy. Although I understand that her many fans idolized her for her musical talent, I do hope that they do not idolize her for her self-destructive live style. To see them in the audience, dressed like her and wearing make-up like her makes one wonder why they don't want to be themselves but rather, want to emulate her. She was a wonderful talent but, unfortunately, had low self-esteem and spent her life trying to make herself some elusive person rather than celebrating who she was. A lesson for us all especially for those of us raising girls.
Dear Mr Cooper, will watch your premiere episode featuring the family of the late Amy Winehouse. I loved Amy and her music, I think she was a genuine artist who died too young. I think to glamorize the "27 Club" (you have not done this, but the general public has) is taking away from Ms. Winehouse's talent. I hope to see more unreleased music become available in the future. I think Amy's "Back To Black" album is the greatest album to be released in the last 10 years. If there's no new music to be released, I will treasure the works we already have. Again, Thank you, Mr Cooper,God Bless The Winehouse Family. Amy You Are Very Much Loved & Missed. "Til We Meet Again...
I really miss her, I'm so sad D=
